Absolutely. I'm very curious to see what percentage of the engaged sub-group wants the merger but it is a shame how many choose to disengage.

I completely agree with you, because

(1) The time value of money is a very real thing, and front loading salary pays off in very real ways at the end of your career.
(2) Frontloading and smoothing raises over a career keeps everyone in a lower tax bracket.

I would much rather have earned a 12 year FOs salary consistently throughout my entire career rather than getting equipment and seat raises. But I see no clear path to undoing what they did.

with (2!) separate paid mailings to every single AA pilot at their home of residence with postage paid return envelopes.

The committee has their work cut out for them…

If it goes to a vote does the merger resolution need to get a majority vote of the pilot group to pass or a 50%+1 of the pilots who do vote?

and this is why your contracts are terrible… and you have to wait for DAL/UAL to get their gains before you ride their coat tails.

if your membership isn’t engaged, then they are doomed to fail.

No, the problem with our pilot group is they are very apathetic to anybody junior to them. So each contract the improvements are slanted that way. This last contract saw Senior QOL improve greatly while Junior QOL took a nosedive, the same did not happen at UA or DL where QOL was gained by the pilot group from bottom to top.

I would be interested to hear what percentage of the pilot groups at UA/DL voted compared to American, otherwise your statement hold no merit.

Ummm, like 95+% voted when we had our strike vote, and 90+% voted during the contract ratification.

Why would we not vote for something as important as our jobs.

Again, if the pilot group is disengaged, you’ll probably get a terrible contract because people don’t care enough to be informed. And yes, part of this is APA’s fault for not knowing where/how AA pilots lag the industry, and how to get pilots motivated, mobilized to act, and to vote accordingly.
