Hang in there guys, it will be tough going for awhile, but American is a class act, and you will get through this.

The court motions are not on line yet on the Southern District website.
Did AMR's filing include a motion to stop lump sum pension pay outs?
They can do that if the fund threatens to fall below a certain liquidity level. That's what Delta did except there was a delay after the bankruptcy filing.

I expect a lot of pilots will put in their notice to retire effective Dec 1st.
This may be the last chance to get at those lump sums.

A lot of guys now have only 2 days to make a huge life decision.

Continental neared BK, however; Bethune, Brenneman, and the EMPLOYEES took over (1994) and returned them to a legitimate contender.

Go back to the CAL strike in 1983, tell us all about that.

The only thing new in the world is the History you don't know...

Yeah! Real CLASS ACT!

I wonder how all those Nordstrom Pilots are feeling this morning! All those years of looking down their noses at everyone else has finally caught up with them. My dad always said, "never pi$$ into the wind".

Never seen that attitude at AA. Nothing but professionalism on multiple jumpseat rides. Of course the TWA guys may think differently. Perspective I guess...

Good luck, we all hope you fare well, but we all know why they filed, and it's not to pay pilots more.
32.5% of their pay, that's B.S. I'll bet upper management isn't taking that big a cut.

The question that has not been asked is "What changes were made to the bankruptcy laws several years ago?" Changes where scheduled to go into effect and Northwest and Delta filed just prior to that happening to get in under the wire as I recall, however my memory is getting old and fuzzy, not unlike my ears.
