Thoughts from an AA mechanic

The even sadder development is just how much the APA is being played by Mr Parker all the while thinking they're "in control".
You wake in the morning and realize you threw in you lot with a guy dealing in fool's gold.
The west folks see the dance of the sugar plum fairy and visions of a new tomorrow. The East guys will wonder why they got ganged upon and we poor AAer's....well, we'll deserve it!

There are guys like you during every merger and guess what happens?? Two airline merge! Shocking!
Economies of scale makes the new airline more efficient and the union can demand higher salaries. It almost sounds like you're not a pilot...

The U. S. airline industry seems well on its way to becoming an oligopoly, after years of consolidation, Barron's says. Industry analysts say the consolidation that has occurred in recent years has led to more pricing power in what is essentially a commodity product. Under this scenario, American Airlines (AAMRQ.PK), a relatively disruptive force leading up to its bankruptcy filing in late November, could eventually be swallowed up by US Air, Barron's reports, leaving a big three with enhanced market power. This should benefit Delta (DAL), US Airways Group (LCC) and, most of all, United Continental Holdings (UAL).

Aside from the rambling psychotic delivery, he makes some valid points. This airline has nowhere to go but up and the present philosophy of doubling down on the practices of the past will be the worst possible risk for creditors and investors............well, with a few exceptions.

Well as much as I agree with what he said I believe once he started dropping the F bombs his credibility was lost. He is mostly speaking from his nut stomping that they all took in concessions in 2003 I believe. Now they they (AA) want to take more. I know all too well his anger..When I was working for NWA we OWNED all our a/c. Well corporate raiders Al Checchi and gang came in and through an LBO bought NW for about 80 mil took all our a.c sold them and leased them back then charged NW to lease them and a consulting fee from a newly created company. Then in our case in 1993 pleaded poverty and wanted huge concessions from all the unions. Then when we gave in after the iam kept bringing back the vote til it passed. Then the next day gave themselves HUGE bonuses for making us swallow that ****** sandwich.

If this merger does happen, and when all your conspiracy theories don't come true, will you give a public apology on APC?
There are guys like you during every merger and guess what happens?? Two airline merge! Shocking!

If I understand what you're implying by "economies of scale" Mr Parker's own team is undeserving of any raises till the point of a completed merger. I guess that's the reason he didn't approach them in the middle of the night for a week.
All will be well in the Central, East and West once Mr Parker has His way. Hmmm.....I'm still not buying it.

DAL and UAL want this AA/US merger to happen more than AA wants it, and Wall Street is on the same page because yes it will help DAL/UAL more than it helps AA. AA/US combo would be nothing more than a convienient(but costly) way of chopping US down to nothing.

Why don't you go write a follow up article for Manno's masterpiece. You can tell the world how smart you guys are and how stupid everyone else is. Amazing how everyone else can have it so wrong and not see how sticking with this failed management team and getting raped by their term sheets are "in our best interest".
