I don't have the numbers in front of me, but if I remember right starting 2018 new AC start outnumbering retiring AC. We're losing a bunch of airframes this year, just the MD-80s alone is something like 67 AC leaving.

Not sure why this all matters. But in 2013-2014 LUS still had many pilots in their 40-50s as new hires. Not nearly the everyone was young card that many seem to be playing. We're there some? Yes but not a ton. Many were well into their 40s in my class.... Youngest being 29 back in 2013....

Yeah, I went through training with a new hire class about 1 1/2 yrs ago, average age mid 40s.

Those are 2016 SEC filings, don't have 2017 yet.

This mentions remaining MD80s retiring 2017 and some 757s leaving as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Airlines_fleet

Hope it helps

I'm counting 715 narrow body aircraft at the end of Q4. Doesn't APA scope only allow for 40% of the narrow body fleet to be large RJs and no more than 75% of the narrow body fleet to be the limit for all RJs? 40% of 715 is 286 large RJs and 75% of 715 is ~536 total RJs. I am not sure exactly how many seat variants there are for the CRJ700 and am unsure how many(if any) classify as large RJs, but in the 1/29/16 fleet update it shows a total of 607 RJs operating at the end of Q4. That is well above the 536 allowed. Am I missing something here or are my 40% and 75% numbers not accurate?

Any idea of a (numbers) projection of furloughees to return after May 1st ?

And, what's the process for returning pilots to pick base/ seat /equipment. Is there a bid message we can reference on AApilots to see where vacancies will be ?

Thx

Not sure as to the process but around 700-800 still out on furlough. AApilots does have a "vacancy notice and short-term forecast"... I don't think new hire or recall bid on the same vacancies..

Everyone's guessing 150-200. First calls ('take' rate) see to support that.

You pick by seniority. I think if you have reinstatement rights you get that *if* there's someone junior to you in the bid status(normal rules).

There is no vacancy msg for recallee/new hire slots.

Have you been in touch with the membership committee? They are the SMEs.
