Yeah I was thinking the same thing. With the multiple phases and 2 day interview, plus the video, decision board meeting, etc., it seems pretty tight for 1 month from the date of contact to starting class. Tight for them, I mean. I can be there tomorrow for class if they'd like.

Video interview? What are they going to have you call them on Skype or Facetime for the first "interview"?

The first phase is a video interview that you submit to the interview panel.

Government shutdown
This may not matter if the deal gets past a vote I don't know answer for sure but if FAA pilot records is still laid off due to sequester then any off the street hires won't be able to start until that mess is finished even if they get back to work this week we could see a backlog of work that may slow response times. Does anyone know if background checks would fall in the same boat. Could delay start dates even further. However. AA can't take delivery of A319s because they can't get them registered. You'd hope they'd keep training so when aircraft were available they could immediately put them to work

American interviews and class dates
Dear (enter your name here),
We're excited to invite you to the next step in the selection process for a Pilot position with American Airlines!
This will be a video interview that will help us get to know you better. Below are a few tips to help you prepare for the interview:
• Find a quiet place and pay attention to your background
• Take advantage of the initial ‘test’ question to ensure that your volume and lighting are good
• Dress as if you were interviewing face-to-face
• Have pen and paper handy
We kindly ask that you complete the interview within the next 5 days.
We will send you an email as soon as we have had a chance to review your results. Due to the large number of applicants, it may take us a little longer than we'd like to get back to you, but we appreciate your patience during this process.
You may begin your interview process by clicking the following link: ----
Stats:
TT 5200, PIC 2700, IP 450, Jet 5100
-- mostly Mil (C-5) with a couple years Part 121 flying 74s
Good luck to all!
