I just got called for an interview at US. Can anyone chime in on what to expect as a new hire? It appears E190 is most junior, but what about the A320 out of CLT or DCA? I live in LIT and will commute for now (until all the chips fall from the merger). Also, when do US pilots get the AA pilot pay scale? Thanks for the info!

E190 is most junior, PHL only. I believe that last class had half 190 slots and half DCA A320 slots. DCA 320 tends to run the most junior, but in the last few years you could get into PHL or CLT pretty soon after being hired. Not sure how the merger will affect that.

We are on their pay rates as of this coming Monday.

Good luck!

How is class seniority determined? I'm 40 right now...with a low SSN!

CLT would definitely make the commute easy...and if I got to choose, I'd stay there until after the SLI and eventually try to bid to DFW (and then move). But that's in a perfect world so we know how that'll work out...

Seniority within class at US is by age, oldest to youngest.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to interviewing...US/AA will be a good place to be.

Congrats on the interview! As already stated, the new pay starts on Monday, $40/hour 1st year, all fleets. While PHL 190 does go junior, it seems to really all depend on what they need shortly before they walk into class with the breakdown. In my class, we were mostly PHL 319 with a few DCA positions and then a a handful of 190s. The next class had a bunch of CLT 319s. It really depends on the day.

Good luck in the interview!

Awesome, thanks for the info! I'll be interviewing in early January. Sounds like they let you know something 3-5 weeks later.

Yeah. The timing varies. We don't have a pool here, so when the call comes, a class date comes with it. Depending on the amount of people waiting for a class, your wait time may vary. They try to give you about 4-5 weeks lead time.

Well, if worse comes to worse, our daughter is still a baby so she can stay with my in-laws that live two hours away if they can't wait till mid-April. Sounds like the timing might work out anyways if it takes them longer rather than sooner to get back to me.

This is all assuming I actually get hired too!

I am a recent new hire and I did not get CLT and no one in my class did either. The basic indoc instructors said they had not seen CLT available to a new hire class in at least 6 months or more.
