It doesn't matter what some jumpseat rider, a guy you ride in the van with, or any other pilot says. My advice, and do with it what you will. Don't pay attention to it. If you have ideas, pass them on to your merger committee and then see what happens. The past US mistakes have been addressed and I don't see anyone doing much about this one after it's done.
Hating the other group because of rumors and web board posts doesn't do us any good. Look at how well it has served the US group.

The process was pretty well laid out last time. Both sides agreed to BINDING ARBITRATION. Then when it didn't go the Easties way, they decertified ALPA and started the USAPA madness.
A leopard can't change his spots. Hopefully, APA can put them back in their rightful place.

Indeed the process was laid out. It was laid out in a contract called the 2005 Transition Agreement. The courts will enforce that contract until it is nullified on Monday the 9th.
Courts do not enforce arbitration. Never have. Never will. They enforce the contracts that circumscribe the arbitration. The 2005 TA will be no more and no longer enforceable on Monday.
Cheers

Another question I have.
If these guys are given positions on the seniority list, wouldnt that be giving AA more seniority numbers than they're bringing pilots to the party?
I don't know the numbers involved here, but could this allow for AA to be given 10000 numbers on the joint seniority list, with only 9000 active pilots? If so, that seems messed up. If not, that means that there isn't "room" for everyone when these pilots become active... and will result in the bottom 1000 (or however many) AA pilots being stapled.

Heard from a friend of mine that had a junior UsAir pilot on the jumpseat that they are hoping to re-work the AA seniority list and move the Eagle pilots down on the list since they weren't real major pilots for all of their AA seniority. This 5 year UsAir guy evidently has little respect for former Eagle pilots on the AA list and thinks he should be senior to all of them that have less then 5 years of real airline pilot flying. I must admit I had a good laugh at the whole seniority grab scheme and I can see what the AWA guys have been dealing with. If these guys are already coming up with seniority grab schemes then we might as well not worry about negotiating a mutual lists since they are delusional.
That idiot obviously knows nothing about Supplement W/Letter 3 and is just hoping to use HIS seniority as a benchmark for a grab. It wouldn't surprise me to see USAPA try this though. It would be exactly something they would do. I've heard their supporters rationalize just about anything and everything on this forum so far.
Interesting concept though. If one side can propose to cherry pick pilots out of their relative seniority, then the other side could too. I could think of all kinds of benchmarks myself to mangle the non-AA list(s) in the SLI, many of which could get me more seniority than I'd lose under that jumpseat idiots desires.
It another sad reality that this "merger" may very well have the most fragmented pilot group in the industry.
