ATTN: USAir pilots

So that didn't quite format correctly.
1st 9 days ON Reserve 9 days in a row.
If you got one of 5 reserve lines in June that had you on the last 6 days of June then you would be on reserve for 15 days in a row.
And that is not even the worst.
One had you on reserve for 18 days in a row.

I know it's hard to believe.
Other pilots here have posted this is true at AA.
I intend ONLY to NOTIFY USAir pilots. If you do not speak up this will be in the JCBA.
MOST AA pilots are OK with 22 days in a row on reserve.
And according to Sliceback I do this to myself. He posted that I bid the months like this.
Last summer I was still junior reserve. I could NEVER get days off at beginning of month.
Domestic reserve lines aren't so bad, but numerous have you on reserve at least 10 days in a row the way the bids come together.
CS will let your schedule look like this until you are about to be due for a 30 off. Then they just take your Moveable day off to fix it. So now you have a freestanding day off. Can you commute out? No definitely not.
For the 15th time I HOPE THE USAIR PILOTS ARE GETTING THIS
We also use a leveling system on reserve. It does not work.
There are numerous pilots junior to me that have flown 1 trip.
I will be at 62 hours next week.
Don't get me wrong. I love the 777. I really don't mind reserve. I fully expect to fly every day on reserve.
I just wish it was more predictable.
Most guys at AA think the 777 reserves rarely fly. That is wrong in MIA.

The way US would do it, if there were more than 7 days at the blend of the months, sometime prior to the end of the month scheduling would call you to inform you what day your extra day off would be placed at. Sometimes you could negotiate as to the day they gave you etc. Simple..
You would still end up with a long run of days on, but you would at least have that 1 day in there somewhere to break it up.

15 times I have explained this!
Should I continue to tell you that the APA/AA pilot contract does not allow the pilot to move a reserve day off to be freestanding. But CS can move one of your moveables to fix a 30 in 168.
AA does not attempt any month to month legality break until it becomes a dire 30 in 168 problem.

I totally agree with 7576, our reserve system is horrible, and domestic isn't any better than international. Holding a line isn't much better right now.
I'm 55% in my status, so a pretty junior line holder. I'm working three day trips, with two days off between trips, all month. The beginning of the month I had three days off in a row, and I have three in a row off at the end of the month.
All my trips are "redder", so I can trade a three day for a four day, or (usually lesser time) three day. I've held a line for four months, and I've had one "green" trip, and that was a turn. If you get four day trips, you are married to them forever. You will only be able to trade for another four day. It's impossible to drop a trip.
The monthly max on the -80, for Captains and FO's right now is "FAR limit". I don't think I've flown less than 80 hours in a month in years (except for training and vacation). Last month I flew 93, not by choice.

You did bid this way. You said "last summer" so I checked May-Sep. Last July, August, and September the guy just below held the beginning of the month off. In May he didn't bother bidding the beginning of the month off but guys even junior to both of you did hold the first days of the month off.
Open time doesn't show you flying the 9th or 10th this month. Is the computer missing that flight assignment?
Time to date shows 25 hrs. Apparently a F/T trip on the first two days(?) and a three day trip last week. Unless the computer's not showing something you've flown 5 (17 hr 3 day + 8 hr 2 day F/T) out of 10 days on call so far this month.
By the 25th of the month it looks like you will have worked 9 days and will have 4 days of availability left.
