PHL 190, PHL AB, not too long, DFW AB. Tex got his. Who cares about anyone else?

Glad you're not a fair representation of the rest of us.

I don't want any concessions, but the tax is from the government, thanks to the ACA. Im not sure how that's the company's fault. I guess we could mitigate it by asking them to pay us more, but the real solution is to repeal the ACA (not likely to happen). Unfortunately, healthcare is just going to keep getting more expensive and lower quality.

Man, some of you guys must get clobbered at car dealerships.
The next time I buy one I'm going to try and get the APA to go along with me. I mean, they did such a bang up job on the MOU.

Sooo, why did you guys vote for the MOU by the largest margin of all LUS pilots again?

I live 23 miles from the employee lot in DFW, at the wrong time of day, I'm probably not going to make it from phone call, to ops in two hours.

Another problem with this deal for me, is combining domestic and international divisions. I have no desire to do international. You should be able to stay on one side or the other by your choice. The whole thing is BS, there shouldn't be any concessions, period.
You are absolutely correct, there should be no concessions. The problem is, the APA had already agreed to them!

I think this is the perfect time to say no. There is little downside to sticking with the MOU, it's what we voted for, and it may be better than accepting any concessions for the "small" raise. What amazes me is that so many people don't see to understand what has already been given up.

Maybe Parker blinked. Let's see if he is really afraid of arbitration. I personally think that he wants a deal, but not at any cost and this group needs to be fully educated about the road ahead. I fly with a lot of guys that don't understand it, and from reading C&R, a lot of AA guys don't either.

Federal law actually mandates the company (or 'sponsor) to pay the tax, not the employee.

It's ridiculous the company is trying to pass it on to us.

This is the biggest concession put on the table IMO.

I just get tired of talking to some and you will see that too here in the not so distant future. People asking dumba$$ questions like why did you vote for the MOU.

I think your statement is dead balls on too btw. Good post.

It doesn't matter, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The cost of the tax ultimately will be passed on to the consumer. The government thinks that you will opt for a cheaper less comprehensive plan, and if you don't, you'll pay a higher premium. But hey, at least some of your co workers 25 year old kids can put off getting their own insurance a little longer.

How do you propose the company offset this? Just higher wages? Believe me, I don't like it either, but I place the blame squarely with Obama.

There's a lot of poor wording out there regarding the JCBA negotiations. After looking at it more, the company isn't looking to pass the tax on to us. It's looking to reduce the overall value of the health care plan to avoid getting taxed, and then to compensate us in some other way for the difference.
