Nervous to get in an accident?

North Richland Hills was nice when we left in 2007. Not too far to the employee north lot, but 2 acres won't happen.

Not yet. Wife got promoted at her job and she has to do that for 2 years before she can transfer. So probably summer of 2018. Planning on buying a lot in the meantime, however.

Huey: what are your "requirements" ? Where will wife work ? What kind of commute can you handle (drive time) ? Kids ? Budget ? "Can afford up to XXXXX price ?"

Summer 2018 is in the middle of the Toyota HQ move to Frisco, 10,000+ employees, also numerous Fortune 500 companies deciding to relocate to business friendly DFW area.

Wife is HR with the Dept of Veterans Affairs. She can transfer to the regional HQ in Arlington, but she'd rather get hired into one of the fed agencies in Ft Worth.

We've looked around a lot and based on her drive time to downtown Ft Worth or Arlington, plus the schools and the fact we'd like an acre or so, we're probably going to buy a lot in Aledo later this year. That way we can secure the land and then build once we arrive in 2018.

OK good luck. Aledo is nice, but the "cat is out of the bag" on Aledo also. I suggest cyberstalking the forum called city-data forums Fort Worth (just google it) lots of real estate talk over there

Yeah, we've realized that. In the last year that I've been watching real estate there, we've noticed things getting more expensive, so we really want to try and secure a lot that we like soon. I figure building the structure will be relatively similar cost-wise regardless of where we build, it's the land that will fluctuate the most in the near term. We just want to get in before all the lots turn into the tiny ones you see in Flower Mound, etc. There are other areas we'll consider too, like Azle and locations near there. But their schools aren't quite as good. Either way, since 90% of the federal agencies are located in and around Ft Worth, we'll be looking on that side of the metroplex. And we want a decent sized (1 acre-ish) lot.

From what I have read, most of the SCR requirements state a two hour show time. I do not remember the carrier, but one pilot mentioned that was to be inside security. Not sure if other carriers require the pilot to be at the aircraft within two hours.

Ours just says "promptly available". The company has attempted to define that as two hours but APA rejected it.

IMO, that means upon being called, you'll stop what you're doing and get ready for work and head in. Resisting the hard timeline is to avoid people feeling they need to do unsafe things to make it to work. Most people live or have crashpads within an hour or two of a base so it's typically not an issue.
