Don't pay increases go off of CLAS (classification?) DATE? If you (LAA people) look at your HI8, you should see that date, which for us was the date you completed OE. So for bidding and SLI purposes, we'll use the OCC date, but our pay steps are tied to CLAS date? Or is this changing too?

Westbrook is a poster child for the "we've always done it this way" crowd, along with the "we only give a crap about the very senior pilots" crowd.
He's the one that seems adamant on making LUS new hires' pay anniversary the same as the LAA pay anniversary (i.e., training completion, not DOH). There's absolutely no good reason to change to the LAA pay anniversary system. None. But he seems to support that.
He's also one of the most vocal guys against the jumpseat IVR system and made his impassioned plea that the IVR system has destroyed the meaning of seniority (although I beg to differ...I still cannot bid 777 CA). And he's the guy who's purposefully bumped jumpseaters from their reserved 1W just because he was traveling on an A1 pass and could.

So now, you're seniority will be OCC date (which is now DOH), and pay will be CLAS for some reason. Although it appears some on the BOD would prefer to move LUS guys to the LAA method of CLAS, whereas I say it's far easier, simpler and HELPS the membership to move both OCC and CLAS to the pilot's DOH.

I sure hope some good people get elected. We have a lot of things going for us, but without a good union to help it come together, we are screwed.

Paper ballots are out....
Yes-paper.
Probably because the turbo encabulator broke down.... (Seemed like a good idea in 1977.)
