Volunteer for your union? I do. Walked a picket line lately? I have (Battlestar wearing Eastern pilot). Picket with your flight attendants or mechanics ever? Yes, I've done that just last month with our stews. Get involved and stop depending on some other equally uninformed jack wad to get your information.
Well it seems this thread of "talking about ALPA" is just that. A waste and just TALK. Eastern got SUCKER PUNCHED by ALPA. You started back at the bottom.....RIGHT? So much for YOUR seniority. Canola and his ILK was trying to SHOVE US AIR into the annals of history by short-shrifting us ten years ago. I would rather REIGN IN HELL than serve in heaven under the leadership (whatever that is) over at ALPA. Especially DELTA "LEADERSHIP".

I just LOVE watching you union pretenders needing to show how strong you are. BTW, Roghair is a HAS BEEN and simply cries sour grapes. We don't NEED someone coming in running (and taking OUR money) an organization again when APA and Edgar James is bad enough as it is. Hell, the clerical workers at APA in Dallas can even get the statements in proper ledger format for year end tax returns.

I am doing all I can to make American the BEST without the "union" I got guys calling ME about "the contract" when the "faces" (NOT) down at APA don't know SQUAT about it because they are ASHAMED of the STUPID CONTRACT THEY NEGOTIATED WITH MANAGEMENT BEHIND OUR BACKS TO PARKER AND KIRBY AND YOU "RADICALS" THINK PICKETING IS GOING TO SOLVE ANYTHING NOW??

Yes I'm screaming and LAUGHING at you union wannabes when YOU YOURSELVES....all you UNION WANNABES including you HEROIC EASTERN PILOTS are pattsies for following an inept leadership that gave everything to the OTHER UNIONS at other carriers who told you "hey, take one for the gipper" just like Delta was trying to do for us by having us NOT taking LOA 93 and go out on strike and deep-six OUR Company so you Delta pukes could have MORE.

ALPA, USAPA, APA, Teamsters, blah blah blah. They are all the same.....lawyers blowing HOT AIR!!

I am doing all I can to make American the BEST without the "union..."

What exactly are YOU doing to make American the best? Are you a CKA or CP? I respect both, and would hope that your earlier post about all of us new hires being idiots isn't indicative of how you go about making American the BEST...

If you're 'just' a line pilot like the majority of us, what exactly is it you're doing to make things better? Do you attend Crew News sessions and point out any of the absurd things we do as a company to senior management? Do you send 'sound offs' to the APA to point out any of the absurd things we do as a union? Do you volunteer to serve your fellow pilots? Do you go to domicile meetings? Is your name on the list of potential national officers who want to change things and make both APA and the company to be the BEST???

We've been a combined company for about 2 years now, and all under the APA umbrella for a little over a year, and maybe you were involved before in the company or union in the past and are fed up with the bs... but I'm just curious what you are doing to make AA the BEST, especially without the union? Or do you just come on an anonymous forum and vent about how much unions suck and how stupid all of us new hires are to want to come here? You obviously have a lot of experience, so what wisdom do you have for us?

I remember during my helicopter flying days in the 1990s, one of the guys in my Army Guard unit was an AA pilot. And he would often tell me that AA "has the best pay rates, period". Now I know what he means...best pay rates, and that's it.

I made more money at my commuter than the junior/reserve A320 CA's did at US Airways, despite an hourly rate about 40% less. It's not about the pay rate, it's about the credit.

I'm neither CKA or CP. I'm a line guy and the new hires I fly with are great guys and are happy to be here. Almost to a (wo)man they agree with me! But It's ok to disagree with me if you don't. Just don't try to sell the union crap to me and tell me to eat the caviar (which I don't like either).

The web boards happen to be the WORST place to promote unionism and besides it isn't even practiced here.

I've moved on and I collect my ENORMOUS pay and benefits courtesy of the COMPANY.....not the APA.

Route66

Can you name a non union carrier anywhere in the world that has a contact on par with ALPA, APA, or SWAPPA? Maybe it's just a coincidence but it seems like virtually all good aviation jobs are represented by a union.

What's the deal with all the caps? DO THEY MAKE YOUR STATEMENTS MORE COMPELLING?
