Uhh, a dinner at home? Not following ya....many of our 3 day trips are 18, 19, sometimes 20 and change. Seriously, they can be had on the domestic side as well, just gotta look for them on the bid sheet. At least here in DCA.

Lemme put it this way, I'm working the same amount flying DCA 737 domestic and not commuting, then I was flying JFK 767 international with the commute. That's because the JFK-Europe trips weren't really high time, heck some were just barely over 15-16hrs. QOL is much better on the domestic side, at least here.

There are crazy guys who feel if they don't make WB captain their world has come to an end.

Would the 5.15 calendar day guarantee that US Airways had have helped WB flying? Delta and United have something similar.

Yes. It would have impacted the JFK/PHL - UK flights.
About 13 out the 50-60(??) daily Europe flights.

There's a valid reason for their angst even though none are providing their full career progression pre and post SLI so the accuracy of their statements is unknown

It's worth $50,000 more per year than G2 CA working the same number of hrs in a fewer days. And if you can hold the longer Europe trips, of better yet the Asia trips, the days worked are a lot less.

Or you can sit reserve, avg 6-9 days a month, and make the same as 91-94 hrs of G2 CA that would require about 15-18 days.

It goes senior, both as CA and FO, because the guys on the line realize it's value.

All true but if I get booted off the 330 I am not going to have a fit. Life goes on. I was 40 from baby bus captain prior to the SLI, now who knows.

Any CLT guys on here commute from Asheville? My wife and I are kind of kicking around a 2 or 3 year plan of ending up there. This is all predicated on CLT staying the same size. I know there are commuter flights up there, but it seems like an easily drivable commute to me and probably right at the outer ring of short call distance. If you're there, do you drive it or non-rev? I've been a non-commuter for my career, so the driving just seems like less of a pain in the backside.

I don't do that commute, but flew with a Capt that does. He usually drives, as it's only 2 hours. Occasionally he flies. Speaking from my experience as a long distance commuter (leave my house 2 hours prior to flight, then fly a 3 hour flight). That seems like a very easy commute and I'd likely drive it every time. You'll save a ton of time by not waiting for flights. Go to your library and check out some books on CD. You'll be very well read.

If you get displaced you will eventually get reinstated before anyone else can bid that seat.

Just make sure you did not take the reinstatement right out of your 3* display. If you remove it, even for a second, it is gone forever.

Great place, whether it's for raising kids or just livin'. If I weren't a west coast guy with all my relatives along the coast Asheville would be my first choice out east. 2 hour drive is easy. Shoot I commute one leg then drive 1 1/2 hrs.
