Just make sure you did not take the reinstatement right out of your 3* display. If you remove it, even for a second, it is gone forever.
Thanks bro

Lemme put it this way, I'm working the same amount flying DCA 737 domestic and not commuting, then I was flying JFK 767 international with the commute. That's because the JFK-Europe trips weren't really high time, heck some were just barely over 15-16hrs. QOL is much better on the domestic side, at least here.
Completely agree. Most will hopefully check out sequences prior to moving to other bases or equipment, but for those newer to the ranks International from JFK (and probably PHL as well) is fairly similar to domestic days and hours-wise working 3 days for 15-17 hours with the benefit of usually only flying two legs and starting off late on the first day and ending up midday on the third. Southbound are generally 4 day trips starting much later on the first and coming home much earlier on the 4th, but for 19-20 hours normally. You still end up working 15 to 18 days a month, and like the quoted poster said, without the QOL. I do it for the Group IV pay, but I can see a day where I might move to fly domestic trips Group IV for less pay, same days on but better QOL. In any case, since we are one of the most junior bases, it gives guys a lot of options.

For a displacement bid, what is the difference between a paid move displacement and a displacement? Other than the obvious of a paid move.
Are there any hooks or gotchas? Why wouldn't you always bid a paid move for displacement?
I doubt I get displaced but I still like to understand exactly what I am bidding.

For a bid of different equipment and a different base, what is the lock in period? One place I have read 12 months and another I have read 24 months (JCBA).

Lockins - standard is 24 months if you bid the job. If you displaced to a new job the lock in is zero.

If you bid 'new equipment in a base' (eg 330 MIA? 777 PHL?, 737 PHX/CLT??) you incur a 12 month base lockin even if you don't trigger training.

'New equipment in a base' allows you to break any existing lockin IF your current lockin existed before the 'new equipment' was announced.

Eg, bid 767 in May 2016. Company announces 737 CLT for FEB 2017 this month. You can break the 767 lockin but you'll incur a 24 month equipment lockin and a 12 month base lockin. I'm not sure if you could then MBE out of CLT. In Jan 2017 the company announces 330 MIA for May. You can break the 737 lockin under the 'new equipment in a base' and transfer to the 330 in MIA.
And in Sept 2017 they announce 777 in PHL. Off you go again. And in Dec 2017 they announce 787 in JFK. You can bid that also.

So I think it's likely they'll announce 'new equipment in base' all at once vs piecemeal. Piecemeal might trigger more training as guys break existing lockins. If they make one large announcement you'd have to choose one option for the next two years.

And somewhere in there they'll have to announce the 350 basing.

So there might be significant amount of lockins being broken as additional 'new equipment in a base' options become available.
