Has anyone actually seen this "rumor" in writing?

Doug Parker stated it during a CA's "charm school" event this week. Didn't give numbers, he just said it was overstaffed and would see a large (paraphrasing) reduction in crew members. He did say flying would remain the same out of Phoenix.

The Phoenix flying alone, without block hour protections from previous and current merger, needs about 500 less pilots.

From PHX CP just today:

The Airbus fleet is to be reduced by 50% and the 757 fleet will remain the same. We can anticipate a reduction of around 550 pilots. Airbus to move to CLT, LAX and DFW. By the end of summer 2017.

I would expect LAX will get most of 'em & will become much more senior?

We have seen this several times now with mergers. PHX's assets
(planes and crews) will be transferred elsewhere in the system until it becomes no more than a focus city and in many respects a flyover city.
Parker has a way of over accentuating the good and under accentuating the bad and IMO this one fits the bill. Hopefully it will mean more opportunity for the AW pilots but I myself was affected by the SFO closure and it wasn't fun relocating from an established home...unless you commute and that was definitely not for me.
Good luck to those involved and about to be involved in the not so far future.

I have heard that departures will remain constant just that they will be crewed out of other bases. Truth?

That's what we've been told. I guess that's suppose to make us feel better.

Do you commute or live in base?
