What’s the deal with all the hiring going on? New flying, new planes in the pipeline?
I’ve heard from internal sources 3,000-4,000 pilots over the next two, two and a half years. That’s a lot of people for no new announced flying. With all the 73s, 74s, 76s, and 77s being retired by pax carriers everywhere and the new DHL/Amazon hub going live in CVG, I can’t help but think there’s some major announcements coming in the months ahead. The one that baffles me is the 73s as they’re super overstaffed for how few planes they have presently.
The company is going to need a new CBA if it’s going to retain all the highly qualified people they have and are presently recruiting. It’s a strategic error if they can’t put together a decent contract; that’s going to cost AAWW tremendously when passenger carriers eventually recover.

The truth is, nothing has changed in terms of staffing since COVID, crews are still retiring; crews are still being hired at FDX and UPS; crews are still sick of the lies and manipulation from management and doing 17+ days on the road for cr@p wages.
You're absolutely right, the company has committed a strategic error. They chose to alienate their crews rather than rally them in the midst of the greatest cargo market ever.
The company could offer jobs to 1000 pilots per month if they wanted to, only to be constrained by the choke point (sims) in the Training Center.
Choke is the operative word.

Who cares. 17 days on the road is a killer. I have buddies at other airlines that are making the same on leave that we make flying 17 days. Who cares about hiring, more airplanes. Blah blah blah. Soon as the airlines get their footing again, AAWW will be once again a place people don’t want to stay at.

The deal with all the hiring going on: No one really knows. Could be growth, could be anything. All speculation.
3,000-4,000 pilots: Personally I have not heard numbers that high. New CBA and merger being complete could certainly mean growth, but again, we would be the last ones to know.
New CBA: As Elevation mentioned earlier the final touches of our CBA is going to be decided by an arbitrator. I believe we fought the fight a respectable pilot group should fight. Could have been fought better, could definitely have been fought worse. But now we’re just going to have to wait and see what fate is handed to us. I hope it’s a good one!

Agree, it’s been a long 4 years, it will be 5 before we know it. Get this done already and maybe learn something for the next round. Probably not. Polar.... Southern... who is next? Unfortunately it seems to work.

Be thankful you have a job right now. This is my second furlough and is much worse than the first. I don't wish this job market on anyone. So any job that is hiring, no matter how bad, is a good place to be.

Certain parties are set on maintaining that narrative.
Maybe some need to take their own advice and GTFO and vacate the seat for somebody who wants to be there.
