Well, to be fair and paint a clear picture for prospective new hires (since we seem to be one of the only games in town), my understanding is the contract has to go through arbitration first and be finalized before the groups are merged and musical chairs can begin. But we're probably already too far down that road for guys hired early in the summer - much less a future new hire - to count on a whirlwind through the training department and into the left seat before probation is over.
So, yeah, once that integration happens/contract is finalized my fuzzy crystal ball says there'll be a lot of guys and girls chasing a quick(er) upgrade into the 737...and presumably anyone hired in the last year or so will be at the bottom of the seniority list on the CA side for quite some time if they scored a quick upgrade. Which isn't necessarily as awful here as it is at other places, especially if you live in TPA/LAL, PDX, IAH, or RFD. Then again, the benefits of having seniority don't seem as great...just days off, maybe sitting reserve where you live, and avoiding back to back red-eyes, mostly.

A lot of good points made by others here.
An integrated seniority list without fences isn't entirely bad for the people coming aboard right now. There will be a lot of upgrades into the 737 from the right seat of the 767 and other planes, but that also means a lot of movement for narrow-body to FOs to move into widebody FO positions. A lot of the 767 captains and 747 FOs will probably take the 777. My point is this situation will mean a lot of movement, generally. The guys who get the least out of this will be junior 777 captains, but they are still holding 777CA pay with less than a few years on property. It'll take a year or two for all the movements to shake-out and for people to move through the training center as fleets integrate.
Just a word of caution, though. We only know what we expect this integration process to look like through rumor. Until we see it in paper (or .pdf) economics and contracts can change. Fences could come back, etc. So we really don't know what we've got aside from an agreement that integration will be on straight date-of-hire. So the simple guidance, in my opinion is still the best. Only base your plans, expectations and budget on what you know you have. That means right seat on whatever airplane you've just been assigned at minimum guarantee.

I understand for some people may be a deal breaker not upgrading asap, but for some low Hour rookies like me, it's a really good deal. Get some solid experience on the 737, and eventually right seat on a WB after the 3 year seat lock? I don't think it gets any better than that, great opportunity.
But I understand some pilots out there with thousands of hours have different short term goals.

Glad you asked for clarification. We may have been confusing people who are silently researching for important decisions.

list is done- no new vacancy will happen under old list- all future vacancies are under the new seniority list.

Not sure what you mean here? No upgrade classes at 5Y or 9S until 1224 and 2750 are officially merged? 5Y folks can now bid to 9S and vice versa?
Genuinely curious. I was under the impression that list wasn't in effect until there was a joint CBA, either by agreement or arbitration.
