Uhm, that's preposterous. You're openly advocating lying so long as it discourages people from applying. Aside from the fact that, you know, lying is wrong, like they taught us in first grade, it's also ineffective. You lie, you lack credibility, and no one listens to anything you have to say. AFAICT, the reality at Southern is more than enough to convince people not to apply, in any case.
If someone did come on here and said some things that you knew weren't true but you also know is going to discourage people from applying then WHY STOP THEM? You're not required to respond on here or correct inaccuracies or misinformation.
If I worked at an airline that was fighting for a new contract and someone started telling people that my airline was the worst and that no one should want to work there the last thing I would want to do is to harm my chances at a new contract by working to correct their misinformation! It's not that hard to understand.

I didn't advocate for that at all. You're reading that into my words. I told him that if he thinks someone is lying to discourage people from applying then don't counter it with something that makes it sound like it's not that bad. It's really pretty simple.

You roll out bed, throw on your pants and a knock off North Face Jacket ( that’s all you can afford )
You catch a 1980 Ford Van with 4 rows of bench seats. Off to the hub you go. It’s cold as ****, icy and miserable.
You pull up to the big yellow hub- then it hits you- It’s like the walking dead. many weeks of beards all over the place wearing Flannel
On the 1983 Chevy Crew bus with another 10 half dead airline pilots making weird grunts.
You make the turn, it’s the ugliest thing on the ramp, in all her glory The she is- a 1974 Boeing 737-400, with 35,000 cycles.
It’s 430am and you’re off to Omaha Nebraska. This is your career. You fire up tinder and strike a pose- this is the money shot.
Day 1 - only 17 to go! You made it.
If you don’t believe me- come see for yourself, and you will laugh and say- this cat was right.

Here we go again. Half-truths and BS. If boeingdvr knew what he was talking about he would’ve know that Southern pilots don’t drive to the hub. They just unpin their arm from underneath the beefy Kentucky girl who’s sleeping next to them in the cabover camper in the DHL parking lot. Then they simply walk into the hub. It’s all about efficiency

For those few pilots that still may not know:
Atlas and Southern are both owned by AAWWH. There is only one HR department, and they do all the hiring for Atlas/Southern.
If hired, you may be offered the 747/777/767/737. Whatever you are offered, you can ask for what you want. Pilots in the past have been offered a class date for a specific airframe, and they have rejected that class date, and asked for a class date of the airframe of their choice.
Based on the hourly rate/min guarantee, the pay is as follows:
747
777
767
737
747/767 classes are not being filled. If you want a 747 classdate, you could hold out for that, if you are offered another airframe. AAWWH HR will make that decision. The higher your experience level, I assume, the higher your chances are of getting the 747, vs the 737.

Southern Air is all the rage. Every kid has dreamed off being a SA pilot. There is nothing more glamorous than your 2:00am wake up call in the dead of winter.

No offense bud, but this is how many of us started in the biz back in the 90's. Life was a lot harder flying junk back in those days. But back then we did it with a sort of a smile. Be thankful for what you have. Stop complaining or I suggest you walk a mile in our collective shoes. Have you ever dug a ditch for a living?
Just trying to give a dose of reality to our new generation of pilots - ya know the group that doesn’t like to work.
Have a good one- BUD-
