This is the best 135 job I've ever had.

First of all, this is work and not a paid vacation gig.
Second, Atlas is not an Airline, it’s a transportation company that uses airplanes.
Atlas does not decide where they go and when, the customers do.
If the customer wants the flight delayed or cancelled, guess what…you’re not going.
Contracts come and go, sometimes unexpected.
HSV was the base with Africa flying till they weren’t. HOU was the base with the Angola sugar runs, till they weren’t.

Wow - You really are a tired soul, aren't you...

Why so grumpy? Got knocked back from United for not having a personality? Let me guess, so now you're working at Atlas, hating life (and yourself because you failed the personality test for the majors) and so you get online to berate people for asking a simple question? You're a legend mate, takes special skills to simultaneously pointing out the obvious while being a complete wanker!

Clown.

For what it’s worth.. TiredSoul is one of the few people on this board who has consistently given both fair and optimistic assessments of what life at Atlas Air is like. Throughout the last negotiating cycle, he was one of the few people on here who wasn’t trying to actively discourage people from applying for this job. If I were you, I would reread his post. You might see that he actually provided some valuable insight into what a career here entails. As others have pointed out, it is a mistake to come to Atlas because you’re looking for a specific layover / schedule / destination / fleet type. The only constant here is change. Some of us thrive in that environment.

You went straight to the deep end man. Damn.

I didn't read his post as a negative. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of pilots who think those things are positive. Myself included.

I'd say not only Atlas but any airline really. Bases come and go....same thing happens with the routes. On my fleet destinations change every couple of months, most of them anyways. We used to fly to TPA, a lot, now other fleet and other airline does it.

Uuuuummm, just a question - Do you work here or have ever worked here? TS is on point and offers great insight like most here. Like ZeroX2, I enjoy the variations, variety of locations, and a lot more etc., but if at United and or any of their siblings I would beg the United FA to run me over with the food cart or at least choke me out with alcohol packets - but that’s just me specifically, not everyone serves mammon and there are those with different priorities in their life.

Wanker was misdirected mate, or did I get that assumption wrong. Apologies if so but TS is not a Clown.

I am not even on the Giant side of the house yet. However, as a long time ACMI pilot all I read in TS’s post was truth.

Maybe I was a little over the top, apologies TS, I read it as you being condescending.

I understand the company and how they operate, I just wanted to ask if anyone knew roughly how often they head down under.

Don't apologize, he was being an ass. Don't let the second and third accounts fool you.
