Not true I’ve been involuntarily extended 4 out of the last 6 months.

And I really don't want to do long-haul. So, just curious! Oh, and what are upgrade times currently on that fleet? Thanks guys!
BEST QOL I’ve ever experienced at any of my 6 121 airlines. I fly week on/week off trips, bid for layovers in CVG/ILN and am rarely gone from home more than 2 days. Most Amazon trips out of CVG start around 1-2pm local time and end on the 4th/5th day at 8am. If you live in base, expect an excellent QOL with a crap paycheck. I flew 318 hrs last year and made 62 landings. I’ll pull in maybe 230-240k this year without a day of overtime (11th yr). There’s plenty of way junior 767 captains here pulling in over 300 but I guarantee they’re not home 23 nights a month. So far this year most of my layovers have been 24-30 hour layovers in TPA, SJU, MIA and sometimes SCK.

Being extended involuntarily is not the same thing as volunteering to pick up an Open Time trip on your days off.

Exactly! My point to the poster asking whether he could get hired without the C-19 vaccine was that if the company acquiesces to those that wish to avoid it, there will be other pilots involuntarily extended to cover open trips. Is that fair?

Correct, it is however equivalent to being forced to pick up open time on my days off, which is the comparison being made. The statement ‘nobody is forced to pick up open time’ is completely false. Reserve crews lose X days to cover open flying.

Hey guys, what's a good sized bag for the 74? How does everyone pack for 17 days straight?
I saw Atlas has CrewOutfitters, will they let you get a 26" with the allotment? I have crew outfitters
today with SkyWest and they won't allow me to buy a 26", and i have money in there. So i was planning
on getting a 22, i mean it would be a shame to let it go to waste.

Some guys use the 26, but you can't fit it in the overhead while deadheading. Most use the standard 22 and a flight kit bag. Some hardcore warriors carry a third bag or travel guitars and just deal with it. You may be forced to check bags occasionly in that case.

I am in the travel light camp. I hand wash my clothes and never have to worry about it. Merino wool and bamboo blended cotton are your friends...

Some guys use the washing machines at various hotels throughout the system.

I don't think you can buy a bag with your allotment. I would find a way to live out of a 22 if I were you.

I have a 22 inch bag where I pack 5 days of stuff and 5 days of gym stuff and resistance bands. I have a 2nd bag for my toiletries, 1 each of underwear, undershirt, pair of socks, and cruise clothes. I have a backpack for my flight kit.

I usually do laundry twice on the road for those months where I don’t see Incheon. When I do touch Incheon, I do laundry even if it’s only a little bit.

I do the 22inch bag. 4 days of normal clothes. 2 sets of uniform junk. 2 days of gym stuff. Coffee machine and k-cups. Its stuffed to the gills, but it fits in an overhead. 2 bags for gateway travel. Once on the road I have a backpack that gets the Coffee, disposable rain ponchos, sweaters, etc. 3 bags that aren't stuffed too tight work well. Shave everything back to 2 bags for gateway home.

A 22 inch and a flight bag even allows for some gifts to come home with me. I do run laundry on the road. I also look like I'm in the same few outfits all the time.

Get the 22” bag. It fits in every overhead. For a 17 day trip I could pack about 12 days worth of clothes in it and plan on doing laundry once during the trip. And very few guys wear their issued leather jacket. Most buy the landway jacket or use their own NorthFace jacket that’s warm but still folds up fairly flat to pack away for when you hit HNL.
