Precedent was established long ago with the "Stansted LOA" International Gateway is nothing new and easy to restore.

There are a number of possibilities for LOAs. Recently the CEO said we shouldn't expect significant changes. That said the same thing was also stated before LTD and 2% DC. Also during a transition in ownership it's in his interest to say "plan on no changes". A significant change is an implicit repudiation of his decisions. So I wouldn't read too much into any discussions at a check pilot meeting, classroom, etc. We only know what we've got. That's spelled out in our CBA. Maybe things will improve or deteriorate, but we only know what we have right now.

Sorry for late reply. I've been BUSY.

But I always like to emphasize that Gateway Travel is NOT a benefit. If they were to take away Gateway Travel this place would grind to a halt within the span of two days. The company absolutely depends on Gateway because we don't have our own hub & spoke network to ride on. I know you understand that, but I wanted to clarify the issue for new people unfamiliar with the operation.

Sure, it's nice not jumpseating to work and putting up with the crashpad scene, but you know these executives are not buying tickets out of the goodness of their heart.

Gateway Travel is in the CBA. They can't just "take it away".

Not really my point! But thanks for bringing it up.

Totally possible to be negotiated away and the incentives or lures in the past were possible $$$ in a travel bank type deal like some other outfits that you manage. Although some may have the ability to pocket some change or do better moving themselves around, the Gold within Gateway lies in the fact that if your flight cancels, weather cancels, maintenance cancels or whatever - go back to your home or get a hotel. There is no call coming from management, etc. Widget Capt told me decades ago, “half your pressure with this job is getting to work!”

*zero zero is correct, this place would come to a halt abruptly.

Negotiated away, that you said, is completely different than "taken away", as what I argued against (and what zerozero said).

Just wanted to make sure people knew what we were dealing with here.

"If they were to take away Gateway Travel" is what you said, just wanted to point out, that's not possible.

This comes back to discussions around potential LOAs.

True, good addition to be very specific. Don’t believe zerozero had any intent to start an argument so good clarification to his main point. Nothing argued regarding the “take away”, but like you said people need to understand that anything and a lot more than you might be aware of can be negotiated away. Just take a glimpse at FedEx 2015 contract and what they keep mentioning on their informational threads, wasn’t pretty it seems.

*On a somewhat parallel theme which may have been answered before awhile back: Why did our start time change to 0700z vs midnight z? Must be benefitting someone out there. Thought it was the newbies being ANC based on the 74 who lived CONUS/lower 48 closer to the East Coast, but several I caught up with answered “not really”…

**Don’t recall the pilot group being asked or a questionnaire proposing this, but I could have missed it somewhere no doubt. LOAs like Elevation mentioned are another animal.
