I'm not sure "getting a class date at the end of the month" is anyone's choice but Atlas. If you are offered a class, you take it. Don't let even one number go for the sake of spending an extra month's insurance...that makes no sense.

Atlas has a job posting on climbto350.com. Are they getting short on resumes or are they simply trying to increase their pool of applicants?

Who knows? But it sure seems as they are currently turning away A LOT of good people.

I KNOW, supply and demand, but still.

No shortage of resumes. They have however, refined their sniffer. A couple of folks apprently went through the cycle, got the ticket and punched out. Besides the cost, that's a couple of people that were needed on the line who are not there. So as has been said before, if you don't think you'll like the flying, don't apply. Don't expect it to be like domestic gigs. If you think you will be able to get in and game the system...many have tried. If your spouse can't handle things while you are gone, or either of you expects to come off a trip and go home for something short of a critical situation...it's not the place you should be.

Like I said, the HR and Flight Ops folks can sniff it out pretty good. None of this is intended to comment on anyone who has posted, just something to understand.

I just turned down a job for this very reason last week. I did not want to be there; and while having a job, getting hired as a B727 Captain would have been great I did not want to be there. I told them flat out if Atlas called me for an interview I would have to leave immediately. I was not going to do anything I consider to be professionally unethical. They actually thanked me and said if I did not find what I was looking for in the next couple of months to call them back. I have several friends already tell me I should have done it anyway, but as bad as things are, I don't believe in going around $hitting on people. Karma...

Understand fully. But many of the people they've turned down had a sincere desire to work at Atlas, knew a lot about the company, studied them for a long time, knew the schedule, and genuinely wanted to fly there. They weren't the "apply to the flavor of the month type", nor trying to "pimp" them for a 747 type as it was described a while back. In other words, they had no plans on leaving if hired.

Nicely said...if you think a four-day trip is a long one, this gig ain't for you. Don't kid yourself, and give someone else a chance.

It is great to fly a 747 but if it is the lifestyle that you can't put up with, then it matters not which airplane you are flying...

This kind of flying is NOT for everyone...good luck.

Where did/are you flying 727? That was one of my most favorite airplanes!!

There is an aviation job fair in Vegas this Friday and Atlas will be there. I already have my info in with an internal rec. and plenty of experience. Does anyone believe it's a worth while venture/expenditure?

Thanks

Flew the 727 @ ExpressOne, AvAtlantic, Champion, Custom Air, and K2. Mighty fine airplane, my favorite in fact. Low tech but blistering speed!!!

According to the Atlas rep during the interview, they have 4000 resumes on file. They have reviewed 1500 of them, interviewed 275 and hired 85 in the past 12 months.
Yes they are picky and may have turned away a few good candidates. That said, they have a VERY thorough interview process and everybody that you come into contact with has one form of input or another in the "score" that they assign to interviewees. So if those "perfect" candidates were horsing around behind the back of the tour guide or disrespectful of the low level office staff who were escorting them around and collecting paperwork, then they would probably not be invited to work there.
