Overstaffed ?? I think not. Open time trips and extensions still underway. 17 more retirements this year (several this month alone). Add a few early retirements (C.U., etc.) and many moves to FedEx/DAL/UAL/AAL, etc. and even management knows we are not overstaffed. Also there was a net loss of 12 pilots from the may seniority list to the June list!

Yes interviews and classes are scheduled and happening.

Haven't seen very many open time trips posted for about a month. About one a week. At least for the 747.

Extensions are way down too. Been sitting around a heck of alot more the last 2 months.

Same here. Been averaging about working 3 legs per week on the 747.

This is probably due to lots of OE flying. While in recurrent recently, we were told that they are pulling DE's from the training center to do OE.

OE requires more pilots, not less. A quarter of the trips I've done this year have been OE. Someone has to ride along in case the student doesn't make it.

Agreed. I did 2 HSV-MEX-GDL-HSV runs last month. Sat the back the entire trip wth the out qualified FO. Easy way to make a living. Same crew requirement as normal but with the added OE student.

Agreed to an extent. However, if it is a new-hire OE, then LCA's would cause line Captains to sit.

I normally do 4 pilot legs and they don't add additional pilots for OE - they just bump the jr. f/o's off.

My buddy just interviewed and that's what he was being told just due to the OE/Training backlog. Even heard Atlas is looking at getting a sim certified overseas to help with training. Really hope I get my shot to coming on board.
