Maiden rules, and so does Ed Force 1. I got pics with Steve Harris and Janic Geers a few years ago before a show in AKL, it was awesome.
Thanks dude!

Maiden does rule! I hope they make it down here to Texas in the near future. I missed them the last time they came through.

For those of you still waiting to hear, I think if you make it through today with no FedEx, that is good news.

No telling what shot me down. I had some negative factors, no doubt. Lack of currency (about 18 months), 737 type from HPA, and NJA furloughee. Could have bombed one of the interviews as well, although I thought they all went great. Who knows how they weight things in the final tally.

Final stats for all interested:

Applied 3/25.
Phone Interview 5/30
Technical Assessment 6/1 (88)
Interview 6/16

TT 3500
PIC Turbine 1100 (C-5)
IP 75 (C-5)
Types: B737, CE-750, BE400/MU300, A320 (SIC)

Good luck to everyone trying to get on at Atlas! Good things are happening.
It appears that the good letters are arriving today as well. A guy that interviewed with me got the pool letter today. He is a regional guy (RAH).

Hope more folks hear good news today!

There may be more than 40 in the pool. Only HR knows for sure (Come on D, spill the beans...lol). And, the additional 80 trained were only counting those through the rest of this year. Your contact may be correct, too, if training/hiring continues next year.

Heard today that there'll be 133 retiring in the next 3 years. Told that the FOs that were hired a year ago could very well be upgrading to Capt within 3-5 years.

A bunch of the higher-ups briefly said hi today. But, the VP of Flt Ops is supposed to drop by for some Q&A time with our class soon. I'll try to share some of his "rumors" afterwards.

I ran through the numbers a year ago. Starting in 2013 there will be 25 to 30 hitting 65 each year through 2021. After that I don't care.

Do the retirement numbers count the over 65 FE's (which I believe is most of the FE's) who will be forced to depart when the classics go away?

As of last summer, I was told there were 127 pilots over the age of 60. However, some of them are FO's.

My numbers were just off the pilot list. There was a class in 08 of upgrading FEs but they're counted on the pilot list now. Those guys only had a few years to go and make up the 2 or 3 retiring both this year and next.

Just got my bad FedEx letter too. Any words of advice on what to do to boost my chances for next time? I have no long haul and no wide-body experience. Suggestions on where to go to get that experience?

DC8,

The FE's are on a separate seniority list, and anyway they are not required to retire at a certain age like pilots...

Sorry to hear that cupid. To be honest, I wouldn't get too wrapped up with the long haul experience. I have plenty of long haul flying with the military and got shot down as well. So far, every regional guy in my interview group has gotten pool letters. All great dudes and they deserve it, just pointing out that long haul experience is not required.
