4th Quarter full court press is the reason we all get to go shopping for gifts during the Holiday Season...freight dawgs like us bring rubber-dog-$hit from HKG.
And therefore we are busy as hell...most years, Atlas reduces all non-essential training during the last 3 months of the year and keep a lot of IPs available to fly.
Don't worry, from everything I have heard, hiring should pick up for classes in January...would make for a nice Xmas present for someone to get a call from HR and an offer of a class date!
Good luck.

I'm currently swimming in the pool, impatiently awaiting a class. I hope they have a few more classes in Nov and Dec. Does anyone know what the monthly guarantee is in the new contract? is it still 62 hours after your first year?

I'll take it as a good sign amongst the pilot group that there is ample flying to be had. First year guys are accountings best friends. If all you Atlas guys don't mind, tell me what is the longest you have been out on tour and how often that sort of thing happens. I've done my homework about the company/this thread and am trying to put the hard sell on my wife. I like what I see, understand how the game is played, but would appreciate some true feedback. Thanks and keep all the info flowin'!

The truth is that the situation is always changing. It is the nature of what we do. I have been at Atlas for 4 years and my bases have changed. First year was Stanstead (Europe no longer a base), ANC, furlough, HSV, JFK, ANC, and LAX with the latest bid. The flying varies with each base.
You will see a common theme throughout all of the posts about volatility of life at Atlas. Your schedule will vary accordingly. This is an international operation and you will spend a great deal of time on the road. We can only hope that the new contract will force the company to use us more effectively.
BTW- 4 years ago nobody thought we would be flying pax. We now have 767's and the Dream Lifter. It keeps it all very interesting. I don't know of many other airlines where you have the opportunity to see and learn so much as quickly as Atlas.

In about 2 years on the line, the company tried to extend me past 17 days 2 times. Once was to ride a company plane home from Europe and I called foul and they bought me a ticket on day 17. I've just been STN and JFK based but I don't live near there. I never saw STN while I was based there and have only hit JFK once since I got back from furlough. There are times I have to travel on day 0 to be in position for a trip that starts on the east coast and sometimes it's the morning of day 18 when I get home. There are other months I'm home after 15 days. It will be interesting to see how the new trip rig affects scheduling and how line bidding works out.
