Atlas Air Hiring
#2501
Yes. I guess I need to change my handle to 763driver!!
And that is why I haven't been lurking these waters lately...I've been a tad busy learning a new airplane type. And even with the type rating in hand, it seems "I know nothing" (as Sgt. Schultz would say on a long-gone TV show).
Started Sept 6th and will finish this time next week. However, in between MIA and SEA, I had about 1 week off. Breakdown of the schedule is as below, but remember, for new hire FO's you'll have to add at least one week for Basic Indoc.
1 week at Atlas Training Center.
2.5 weeks at MIA Boeing CBT, FBS, and Oral
1.5 weeks at MIA Boeing 767 Full Flight Sims
1 week at SEA Boeing 767 Full Flight Sims, and Type Rating Ride
Going tomorrow morning to MIA for ETOPS, CAT 2/3 sims at Boeing MIA, and about 3-4 days of ground school for various Captain's Charm School classes.
Should be done this time next week...then OE next month, with at least 2 weeks off before the OE...

I believe Atlas is starting a class every 3 weeks for each airplane for the foreseable future. B-767 classes are 9/19, 10/10, and next 10/31. I interviewed 9/13 and got the call on 9/20 for the 10/31 class. I can hardly wait! Good luck to all waiting; hope to see you on Halloween!

I'm sure we know some of the same people. I've been in the osa/vipsam branch at amc/a3v since 2007. Yes, I had an internal rec--a guy I flew tankers with back in the 90s.

I'd say that without the ATP it won't work out. There's still lots of folks in the market with one and it would be very hard to be competitive without an ATP in hand. You could always send in your application but I'd not expect any contact without an ATP and more hours.

Has anyone in the pool ever had any luck emailing the company to try to get some idea of when you might go to class? The wait is killing me and my current work situation isn't getting any better. I'm back to reserve and about to be displaced again. Everytime the phone rings my heart skips a beat!

For every 4.95 hours away from base, you get an hour of pay. So, for every 24 hours, that comes to 4.85 hours. This number will be compared to your actual credits, and you'll get the higher of the two.
