How does it work with -400 openings if the training schoolhouse is full with -200 transition folks? Do those slots just stay open and how do they fill the holes in the schedule?

Just some unofficial rumors.... 3rd party.....

approx half of the feb interviewee's were recommended for pool?

Next 2 classes 76, then 744 class?

Disclaimer- don't always believe what you read....

Good Luck to all!

Ive been trying to figure out how many is in the pool for a while. As far as I know most of the guys from the interviews (that got pool letters) in Sept have been swimming. I estimate its around 5 guys from my date (Sept 15th) are in the pool with 1 guy getting a direct class date. Its pretty much impossible to estimate though. I wish HR was a little more open with their information. Plus, if you are ranked last in the pool you could be pushed down for a long long time depending on how often they interview vs. run classes.

Chip1, you could do just about as good with a dartboard trying to decipher the pool.

It appears that this bid fully flushed the -200 pilots to where ever they wanted to go and as said earlier, it left 20 new hire pilot vacancies split even between the 76 and 74.

With that said, they can run a 76 class anytime they want but the last 744 initial class date for -200 guys that I saw was 6/18/2012. Using the max training every 3 week class structure, there cant be a NH class on the 744 before July 9 but the OE backlog will be huge by then. I am sticking with my SWAG of October 1.

Good luck to all the swimmers.

I assume the transition class from -200 to the -400 is relatively short, possibly shorter than a new-hire class. Anybody know if thats the case?

Only one week less. No need for indoc. A few of the classic guys were on the -400 a few years ago. They would only need a short course, if it hasn't been too long.

chip1, (and others),

I'm not trying to defend the HR folks at Atlas, but I have recently heard that the process is no different at several of the other carriers that have hired in the last several years.

Check one of the FDX threads (there is no shortage of that, right?) and you'll see that it is about 1.5 to 2 years to go through the entire process, and that is under the most perfect situation of hiring, interviews, pool, and on to an actual class.

I do understand the frustration of being in the pool for extended periods, but the system at Atlas of screening, training, and OE, has been operating at max capacity since April 2010...and that doesn't include internal movements as a result of base, and equipment, reshuffle of upgrades, downgrades, transition, etc.

Good luck. And may your arms get a break soon from the swimming...

Hey guys,

I tried to search for info on the ANC domicile, however, didn't find much info. If one is lucky enough to get one of those 10 new hire spots what kind of flying could be expected? Also, how is the commute for guys on the east coast? Do you use many off days to travel? Still swimming from Sept interview!

Thanks
