That is of course true, Cliff, but they are customer-owned...Boeing, in the case of the 4 B744 LCFs that we operate. I'm not so sure that we would be in the market for P&W-powered 744s if we were to own or even lease them.

Does Atlas do its own heavy maintenance or does it outsource? Engine make shouldn't be an issue and the NAA 767s might just be the bridge they're looking for until you go to 777s.

Just putting it out there. It seems too convenient that the stars are aligning this closely at this particular time.

Fishfreighter,

First, the 777 is just a story I have heard...nothing is written yet on that!!

Atlas does not do its own heavy maintenance...but we do stock our own parts, so having a different engine type may have costs associated with it that we may not want to take on.

Now, back to the reason why this Thread is even here, Atlas Hiring (not that the previous info isn't juicy). Every time I pull up this Thread (which is usu. every day) I get more and more discouraged about ever getting the opportunity to interview and have my chance to become part of the great Atlas family. What I'm sensing from this Thread more and more every day is that Atlas has now presumably resorted to looking at only candidates with a military background or candidates already with -76 or heavy time, as opposed to qualified regional piolts for example. Reading posts going back more than a few months about who was called for interviews and who got hired, just about every one fit into the first two categories mentioned above. Even with the slowdown in hiring, it was only -76 guys and military guys who got the call and class dates for Feb. It seems to be looking more and more bleak at Atlas for qualified Regional guys like myself to even get a nibble, especially with the possibility of the NAA/World guys flooding the market.

I'm a 13yr Regional CA with over 10k Tot time and over 7000 TPIC, whose resume has been in for 8 mths now, and a face to face w/DB at an Atlas job fair. I want this JOB! I haven't put resumes out to any other airline other than Atlas b/c if I'm lucky enough to get an interview I want to be able to tell Atlas that You are the one, no other. So, please somebody tell me that I'm dead wrong with this mode of thinking and current discouragement before I, God forbid, put a resume in at some lessor airline.

I think you're overly pessimistic. I have a good friend who's an RJ CA with similar times that interviewed in Oct and is now in the pool.

Hang tight.

Yeah, that was before the "slowdown". I'm just worried that Atlas is going the way of FedEx with it's hiring. That would be a Bummur.

Hey KC,
If it makes you feel better I recently retired from the Navy with 6000+ hours (P-3, C-12, T-34) and can check the boxes for IP, Stan/Check pilot. I have been applying at Atlas for the last year and updating monthly and have heard nothing but crickets. So don't think that being military gives you a golden ticket. I don't know anyone at Atlas so that does not help matters. I'll admit the last few months I have not updated because it does get discouraging. I'm currently sitting over in Afghanistan flying King Airs hoping to get an interview invite from one of those 'Lessor' airlines. I suppose in this type of environment with very little hiring patience is a virtue.

So does a regional FO with 5000TT, 3600jet turbine and an internal rec. have a snowballs chance in H-E-double hockey sticks to get a call? Trying my best to remain optomistic here......
