I'm JFK based but rarely go to JFK so I aviod the tax issue. Plus if the trip has a deadhead to the plane the first day I'm deadheading on the company's time, not mine. Most MIA and HSV trips start and end in base so you'll have to travel the day before to position and LUX-HSV always gets into HSV too late to get out that night so you'll spend the night there.

Hey guys, I start training on the -400 next week and had a question about systems training. I believe I read on here somewhere that systems is more of a home study CD rom course. Is that still the case? I've looked at a few 747 programs as well. Aerosim offers an iPad app that is supposed to help you prepare for the oral. Has anybody used this? Any recommendations would be great.

Relax. Wait until you get there and you'll get the full package. If you start learning generic stuff from programs out there, you will spend more time unlearning it and learning the Atlas stuff.

Trust me, you'll get the gouge and there will be tons of support for you. Atlas, like everyone else, has their way of doing things. You don't want to be the guy saying, "yeah, but I read that _____ ..."

Show up with a smile and an open mind (I'm sure you will anyway). Seek out WhaleDriver and he will give you the secret handshake...no he won't...just kidding!!

And whatever you do...do NOT be late for the Gucci ceremony...very important...

Get your stuff in order at home. It's a long slog down here. You'll be better served doing that than trying to jump the shark.

Let's not make it any tougher than it needs to be.

We're an airline. All Initial Groundschools are the same. 1) Indoc 2) Systems 3) SIT 4) Oral 5) Sim 6) OE

Worry about learning about PRDs, RDAs and International Rules; Take care of Houskeeping Items (Passport extra pages, Visas, Insurance, Be sure to Enjoy Shot Day) that first week.

Lots of us down here to make sure you keep the boat pointed into the wind.

Welcome!

They're handing out coupons for the tasseled loafers (Well, I guess in the spirit of the 80's tech, we should be using boat shoes) the first day so they're properly attired for the haz...er, distinctive indoctrination ceremony.

Ditto. I was a furloughed teamster a few years back and world said they werent giving any preferentail interviews. That said I feel their pain. Its no fun circling the drain.

50 new hire FO for 744, half in ANC and half in HSV

And 15 new CA for 744, all for ANC...actually, most were downflying as FOs since last fall. They had only flown as Captains for a few months after getting the CA training/OE/checks etc done.

Recent 76 trained/grad...50 new 400 guys behind me.

Growth.....GOOD.

2nd year pay for me vs a junior 400 guy...bad.

Pay protection?....crickets.
