Atlas Air Hiring
#3671
I think he is sayin' that we shouldn't try to sell the job. We know it's great, but it is not for everyone. If pilots need to be sold on the place, they probably won't like it.
Some folks don't understand because they haven't looked deep enough or they just plain don't like what they see.
That's fine.
It's better to have the guys here that have looked hard and like what they see. They are the ones you want to sit in the cockpit with on a 16 hour trip.

Slowly been making my way through this whole thread(almost caught up!!) and not much selling having to be done for me by you guys.... just hearing all the experiences and about the company, equipment and crews, not to mention the places you guys get to go.....I sold myself!! Can't wait for the window to open. I am another regional guy, stranded at my company for 10 years now, and it is in a slow downward spiral and I have been looking to bail for a while now and Atlas just sounds awesome. All you guys have written so far has been great and truly helpful to give a clear picture of what kind of adventure awaits... Certainly hope that i am fortunate enough to make it through the whole process and get to fly with some of you guys!!

It appears this year their hiring time requirement is different then what it once used to be. NO TPIC anymore.

Because if you love this stuff nothing else will compare. If you don't....then it might be better to leave a slot open for one who does. It's been said over and over again in this thread but the ACMI life is a lot like liver; you either really love it or you really don't. It's hard to be ambivalent about it.

I've been following this thread and a few other for a while now. I hadn't planned to retire, but was given a few not so thrilling options so I just submitted military retirement paperwork and I'm getting my resume and flight log information together. I was wondering if Atlas has used a conversion in the past for mil to civilian time? Any other information would be greatly appreciated regarding the hiring process.

However, when the window was open previous, there was a PAQ form as well as the resume required for submission. The PAQ was a "big picture" so to speak with general experience questions and flight time, along with types of ac flown, etc.
I wouldn't doubt that he HR resume/PAQ screen people look at the PAQ first. And if the PAQ answers catche their eye they're less concerned with total times, etc.
Just a guess on my part of course. But I thought there were some that posted in this thread previously that may not have met the TT reqs but were MIL and looked at/hired.
