Atlas Air Hiring

You're right, but with the company playing games, it's easier to roll straight into the hub via jumpseat than it is to leave in the early morning on your last day off to make it to CVG for legal rest (with a backup!). Also, there's always the risk of them tacking your $600 flight into your taxable income.
Note: We don't have a commuter policy, so if you don't make it for showtime, it's on you. Which is why, of course, most people just take the ticket and the hassle. But really, it's not like Omni. As I'm sure we've discussed in the past, your trip starts on Day 1, so gateway travel is done on days off for the most part (JFK base tends to be an exception on the 767).

Sometimes there is a backup flight, sometimes there is not. I normally call travel 3-4 days ahead of time and request a specific flight, usually on DAL, and I normally get the flight I want.
I have asked for alternate travel at the end of my trip (Alternate Travel is to be airlined after your trip ends to a location other than your gateway) a few times, and have always gotten the alternate airport that I requested.
We currently have a "Base" AND a "Gateway".
I have been promoting a change in our next contract to Worldwide Gateway Basing (getting rid of our Bases, and making our Base, and our "Tax Home" our Gateway). If we don't get Worldwide Gateway Basing, my second choice would be Domestic Gateway Basing. The reason I am promoting Gateway Basing as opposed to Home Basing is because it is easier and cheaper than Home Basing for the company, so it would be easier to convince them to switch to Gateway Basing, than it would be to convince them to switch to Home Basing. And, Gateway Basing would be a LOT better than what we have now...for one thing: No more imputed income!!!

(Atlas is competing with)...Delta, United, American, Hawaiian, Alaska, FedEx and UPS for pilots.
Current Max Base Pay in China:
ERJ-145 Captains: $15.5/month, with company paid upgrade to small Airbus captain after 1 year.
ERJ-190 Captains: $21.5/month, with company paid upgrade to small Airbus captain after 1 year.3
Small Airbus Captains: $22.5/month.
For the first time that I have heard, China is now hiring expat FOs...the job I saw was for 737 FOs (now there are two companies looking for FOs).
Other open DEC (Direct Entry Captain) Positions in both Taiwan and mainland China:
-8 (the turboprop), A320/340/330, MD-80, C-130, B737/747/757/767/777/787
Just saw that FlyDubai has a recruiting session in PHX....have never seen that, so they must be getting more desperate for pilots.
And, saw some more FO jobs in Asia and Africa, also.
Also, there are LOTS of bizjet jobs in Asia...I was told I could be a DEC on a very nice brand new large bizjet...with no time in type, in Asia.

Although the lifestyle of a 5Y'er could make one ALMOST feel like a pirate at times, it's NOT talk like a pirate day

LOL...only reason FlyDubai is in PHX is to recruit pilots that are okay with the heat in PHX and the newbie may think living in the Arabian Peninsula will be the same as in PHX area!!

Exactly right atpcliff, the guys here that have left seat boeing glass 121 PIC time can be making 20K/month easy at a number of carriers. Once some of these foreign companies open US pilot bases (inevitable) the floodgates will really open. Connecting 2 major cities with a 767/777/787 three times a month making 20K/month!?......sounds like the perfect job to fund my early retirement.

Had him say "Try not to p!ss off my dad. Since that second Iraq tour, he doesn't sleep so much."
Problem solved. Hell, my daughter is usually home early....
