Very helpful link, thanks a lot. I am waiting to hear back from a aopa attorney hopefully today with some more info. I would say one of the hardest parts in this is just all the waiting and not knowing what is going to happen. Hopefully other people can learn from this and not make the same stupid mistake I did. Its disconcerting that just one split second mistake can possibly effect the rest of my career.

Saw that thanks. Spoke with another aopa lawyer this morning who basically confirmed everything you said. He seems to think that I will probably get a warning letter but I am definitely preparing for worst case scenario. Luckily everything is covered under the aopa legal plan. Thanks guys for the advice.

The FAA used to have an expunction policy that removed suspensions from your record after 5 years but that's on hold as the FAA decides how to deal with the post-Colgan improvements to PRIA.

In this case, "on hold" means that it no longer exists. No records have been expunged since this past November. What the FAA is looking into is whether it can continue to have some type of retirement of violations under the new law.

Good news, looks like the matter will be settled with verbal councelling. No record of anything. I feel like I got very lucky and definitely learned from the experience. The FAA inspector was a very nice guy, ex-airline, which I think make up the better half of the admin. Anyways, I explained that it was all my fault and did some things to make sure it does not happen again and he seemed content. Very fortunate. I hope others can learn from this and if anybody finds themselves in a similar situation feel free to pm me and I will give more details and help if I can. Thanks for all the help guys, and fly safe.
