But today's Germans are not going to go all fascist-imperialist on us, if you think that's remotely possible you obviously have no knowledge or ties to their culture other than watching old WW-II movies in technicolor.

Unless maybe they get nuked. A lot.

You can of course still learn from history.
seems like a convenient way for those in power to do whatever they want without justice being served, since they’re likely to continue in power

We need to get away from depending on China for so much of our stuff, just like NATO countries need to get away from depending on Oil/Gas from Russia.
It might just be a congratulatory letter

The US debt that China holds - gives them absolutely ZERO power over us. At the sovereign level we could just rip that up - what are they going to do? Sue us?

However, we need to get away from being totally dependent on China for almost all our cr@p. Have you tried finding stuff NOT made in China? I always look for non-Chinese stuff, but 3/4 of the time, there is no other option. We need to wean ourselves off the Chinese teat now - 'cause in the very near future they will cut us off anyway. Hello lost decade while we rebuild our domestic supply chains.

By "long enough" I mean multiple generations, not five years. Not many in power expect to still be in power in 100+ years.

Who pray tell are going to "serve justice" on after 200 years?

you know how legacy wealth works, right? Should those whose ancestors had ill-gotten wealth and land in, say, hawai’i benefit from that? And should those who would have benefitted from that land if not for those sins just throw up their hands?

What's the statute of limitations? People with celtic blood from the British Isles can make claims against Italians (Roman Empire) and Scandinavians (Vikings). Don't even start with the middle east. See the problem?

Nobodies buying it, save your breath. That said I'm willing to help disadvantaged youth.

it’s almost as if there’s a huge, fundamental problem with the way we handle property rights in the modern world.

or just throw your hands up and say “see the problem? i don’t care” when staring at people whose ancestral lands were stolen while supporting ancestral rights of others to the same land.

You can’t even reply/answer my previous question.

Oh well, can you give solutions to your above point? Or just want to sit around and cry/scream about it?

Who are you leaving your $800 shoes too?

You’re a pilot, you stand to earn/gain a healthy amount of money/assets over your career. Leaving it all to charity I assume?

I don't believe in ancestral rights of any sort, and think inheritance should be limited... a LOT after the second generation. Keep fresh blood flowing.

If the second generation works hard and accumulates assets through means other than inheritance THEN they can pass some of that on to their own kids... but not much to grandkids and so on.

Human interactions should be based on human relationships... between actual living humans. Not historical fables, which often enough are just fairy tales (and subject to revision to taste). The professional victims we have in this country are bad enough, but in some parts of the world entire societies base their culture on ancient grievances. When we going to grow up?
