[Breeze] Airways

Jon Ostrower reports on his website that Moxy Airlines has ordered 20 A220-300LRs. Mr. Ostrower’s article is based on an interview with Moxy Airlines founder Mr. David Neeleman
Following Moxy Airlines’ requests, Airbus would have agreed to add an auxilary tank to the A220-300. This addition would raise its range to 4,000 nautical miles, which is similar to the A321LR. The addition of a central tank to the A220-300 is also the first step towards the A220-500
Moxy Airlines placed an order for 60 A220-300 in July 2018

Surprised we still haven’t heard any updates on the finalized name... I like the Moxy name but I assume we will see something with “Blue” in it...

The A220 by the way is performing poorly for Delta. Hopefully it gets better fast.

It’s the people he needs to invest capital that have to be convinced of his business plan. So far the capital part seems to be lacking. What I think is irrelevant. He was unable to get investment capital for the first 9 aircraft so has decided to do a sale leaseback on those airframes. The lease payments will not be cheap.

Can you elaborate on the A220 performance problems? The plane looks awesome. I’d hate it to be troubled.

I have heard nothing about the plane performing poorly for anyone, including DAL.
I did hear of minor grumblings regarding growing pains with the engine technology. But otherwise, have heard only positive coming from DAL. My perceptions could be wrong, though.

I have heard the same. Nothing major beyond typical new engine type gremlins that are gradually being worked through.

That is a very common model to do lease backs. It is actually a source of capital for airlines. They tend to do a deal where the lease company pays more than what the OEM gets paid.
