Quote: agreed. I wonder how much other airlines would target hiring at a company like breeze when things return to normal. I’ve heard airlines have done this in the past to drive up training costs at competing airlines
Well.... rewind the clock back 1 year to the "pilot shortage".
Was Delta bleeding the AA WOs dry?
Was United targeting Jetblue or Frontier pilots?
Was AA giving preference to Spirit or Commutair?
Was Southwest giving one particular group special interest?
Etc. etc.

If you can answer those questions, you'll have your answer.

anecdotally,
my NH class at DL had quite a few LCC/ ULCC pilots in it, more than I was expecting. If other airlines start hiring again before breeze gets off the ground, I could see them bringing in breeze pilots to keep them from growing quickly. That is all

Quote: Wow that pay scale is a joke. Unfortunately they won’t have a hard time getting regional guys to jump ship with the state of the industry.
How much does a furloughed delta pilot make? Or a 2nd yr 717 FO on reduced mpg?

And.. yeah.. it's a start up and should close the gap just fine in time. Also, from what I've heard, they are not having a hard time getting apps from all over the industry including legacy pilots (obviously the interest is short term). For all the unique covid challenges breeze is facing as a start up, the opportunities are now exponentially better and the costs so much lower. Plenty of pilots want to be there and by the time the industry turns around I doubt many will leave and start over with all the risks that come with being in the bottom 30%. We will all see I guess. I think it's a rare opportunity to be part of a Neeleman start up that some will appreciate while others won't-- no shock there.

Yeah, should be just fine, with Neeleman involved. I had serious doubts until about six months ago but the apparent weakness in his business plan (availability of experienced instructor cadre) has been resolved in spades by covid.

Almost wish I could afford to do it, sounds kind of fun and I know of some good folks there.

Even pre-covid they had no shortage of experienced applicants, many were E175 check airmen from various regional airlines. Retention maybe would have been an issue that’s mostly mitigated now. Agree. It’d be fun. That pay though.

Absolutely. They have hired zero pilots post covid. Also, that pay is pre covid. I would bet it changes in a downward direction once people get started soon...
