Default Getting hired without 4 year degree

Just wondering what are the odds of getting hired from a regional without a 4 year degree.

I know it's not listed on the pilot qualifications website, but I have heard that if you have family that is high up at American they may be able to give you some leisure in the application process.

My family has been working for American for 40 years now, and they are all level 4 MX supervisors at MIA and PHL.

I hope this post doesn't get blown out of context, just curious on my chances of getting hired with an associates degree as compared to a bachelor's degree.

Today, close to zero%, few years from now? Who knows? Right now it is still a requirement unless you are flowing from a WO regional.

Go ahead and apply. Once a month, take a break from studying for your degree and update your flight times.

Fly for a wholly-owned regional. There is no degree requirement to flow.

You’ll be able to finish your degree faster than you’ll be able to get hired without one!

Go get a 4 year. Shortcuts end up at places like spirit and frontier.

It’s tough to get on with AA as a civilian, even with family connections and a 4 year degree... lack of more checks in the box will make it even more so.

Your best bet is to go to an AA WO, apply directly while there and finish your degree... Double coverage if you want to be at AA in the long run.

Wait a minute. If you already have an associate's degree you are half way there. You should fairly easily be able to convert an associate's degree to a four year degree - at least in general studies - much of it online while on reserve. Why risk not filling the box? Besides, everyone who flies for a living ought to have a backup. You are always just one medical problem from being unemployed.

Here's some ideas on credit sources and other schools. Knock it out and don't sweat it. You can finish for less than a few thousand bucks. It's hard work though.
