Default First ever type rating 737 or 320??

If I had a choice to get a 737 or 320 type rating, which should I choose?

Is one aircraft substantially easier to learn and/or to fly? Or is the learning curve somewhat equivalent? I’m asking this from a very specific standpoint of a highest chance of success in training given this would be my first type rating and have essentially no prior jet time. I know many other factors exist when making a choice regarding a career. I’m just looking for some insight to this specific question as a starting point.

My stats are CSEL, CMEL, CFI, CFII, MEI with about 2000tt, 500 turbine pic (Caravan), 200 multi, 25 hours as a right seat filler on a part 91 CJ.

Thanks for the advice.

Are you asking should you choose a single-fleet airline with bus or 737?

That would be one of the last criteria I would use to select an airline, although if all else was pretty equal I'd definitely rather spend a career (or even a few months) in a bus... ergonomics and ease of operation. You might not even last a career in a 737 if your back can't handle the medieval seat construction.

Are you paying for a type? 737 will be a lot cheaper.

As far as ease of training, the bus is different and you'll have some new concepts to wrap your your head around and apply. 737 would probably be more straightforward to learn.

If it’s a single-pilot CJ, don’t make the mistake of logging the time spent in the right seat.
I’d go Airbus and day of the week and twice on Sunday. The overhead panel in the 737 looks like a 1960s nightmare.

Definitely DO NOT pay for a type rating.

You sound perfectly set up to jump to the regionals, get your ATP completed by them, and write your ticket to the majors.
You can always come back to the 91 world, if that’s your ultimate goal.

You’ll do better putting your money towards the ATP-CPT program. There may be 135 operators that will reimburse for the ATP-CPT program. From there it’s off to the races getting your ATP. with your first type rating. Let the air operators, from the 135s and 121s fund your type rating while being on the payroll.
