Some of the participants on APC never cease to amaze me!

Now, to address the OP question, I believe that in addition to having your licenses and ratings that having the ability to communicate with others, not only on a professional level, but on a personal level as well is a very good attribute to have. How well you fit the company/corporate culture is an important quality that is given serious consideration. Albeit may be somewhat subjective.

The title of the post that you cannot edit is the one that is posted on the list of topics and at the top of the page. The original post was posted with the word 'proffessional' [sic]. The title in your post is correct now, but that doesn't change the original posted thread title that is not spelled correctly. FYI.

Thanks, my friend. The evidence was there the entire time if anybody wanted to see it.

Milky, judging from your avatar and position, I am guessing you are "not economically feasible". (I think that is what they say in the movie)

You'll have to ask my buddy USMC. Only he knows for sure.

I wish I was as "economically feasible" as Milky

No wonder you're still looking for a job. Perhaps you needs to learn to use the spell check feature of your computer.

G'Luck Milky

PS- It's the little icon that has a "check mark" and "ABC" annunciated.

Milky has got it exactly right. Not that he needs me to defend him.

Take a look at the thread path at the top of the page.
Airline Pilot Central Forums>Career Builder>Ask the Pilot Recruiter>making of a well rounded proffesional pilot (Emphasis was mine.)

Milky even took the time to add the appropriate editorial insert.

Maybe the comment was backhanded, but lets be honest. CakeOnIt wants "a thread focusing on the "extra things" that help elevate a professional pilot to the top"
Here's the first one: if you are contacting a recruiter or a company rep, be meticulous with your spelling. If I received an email from a prospective recruit that had the most important word in the title spelled incorrectly, I would be tempted to ******can it outright. At a minimum, this would be an additional hurdle that the recruit would have to overcome when it came time to interview.
First impressions mean a lot.
Sure, this is an informal forum. But c'mon. You want us to take this particular topic seriously, right?
As far as this thread goes, I had to laugh when I read the title. I thought it was a joke. It took me this long to even decide to open it up and look at it, and it didn't surprise me that the first comment was about your spelling. It did surprise me that so many people didn't understand the [sic] insert.

Milky got it exactly right, all the way down to the idea of keeping his comment short and simple.

Hog,
Thanks for getting it. Sadly it was missed on most.

Apologies are in order to Milky, the editing left a confusing trail and I didn't catch the [sic].
