So the consensus is... an electronic logbook printed in a nice bound format is fine going forward, and doesn't need to be backed up by a hand written log???

What I'd like to do is dispense with handwritten altogether and pick up from when I upgraded and go exclusively electronic.

Anybody see anything worrisome with that?

Thanks

I have the same question. Have all my flights in LogTen Pro but my paper logbook is several years out of date. Any reason to update the paper logbook for interviews?

Hi guys, I've been to several interviews with my electronic logbook printed out and have been successful. I would recommend not wasting too much money. I went to FedEx Office with a thumb drive and the PDF on it and they showed me 3 or 4 binder and I picked one and came back 2 hours later to a very nice bound logbook. I recommend a cover page with grand totals. Just an FYI, I had a friend interview at Great Lakes not too long ago with an electronic log and they wanted him to bring his originals to class so they could verify signatures and endorsements. I've never heard of such a thing at any other airline, only positive reviews on electronic logs. Just an FYI.

I brought an electronic logbook to my Delta interview, and explained to them it was my way of putting my civilian and military time together in one place (there are fundamental differences between the way these two kinds of time are logged). I brought my original paper logbooks from my bug smasher days in case they asked to see it. They did.... and told me they wanted to see original endorsements, sign-offs, and were specifically looking for any "unsat" checkrides.

Were these airline interviews or 135 interviews?? I guess I could always just call HR and ask what they want to see. I like keeping my originals locked in a safe deposit box.

I've never logged sim time, therefore never logged checkrides in 121 land. Does anyone see that as being an issue at an interview?

No, I don't think so. Delta asked me to bring copies of all my 121 checks "if available", so I got my company to send me copies of all my sim and line checks. They'll get the same forms on the PRIA check, so just answer the question honestly if (when) they ask you if you failed a ride. Not a big deal if you disclosed it on the application and they hire you anyway; a very big deal when they find it on the PRIA check and it's not reflected on the application.

Thanks germb74 - I appreciate the quick reply. And congrats on the Delta interview!! I'm heading to a Frontier interview soon myself. I have my original GA log book with endorsements, another one that looks just like it (hand written) with all my 121 FO time, and then I went digital for all my CA time. Followed the advice of the gentleman above about having it printed and bound at Kinko's (fed ex office) and it looks pretty decent.

I just got my electronic logbook printed and shipped from Home about $200 bucks for the binder and all pages included. Much cheaper than anywhere else I could find and
came out great.
