I ask because somebody I know is in this predicament. He has just received a new job, done drug and alcohol testing which he passed and got his official employment date and employee ID.

He has even completed indoc and about to go into systems but just got sent a copy of his PRIA that is going to his new company. At the bottom after all PRIA, drug and alcohol testing etc it says he was terminated involuntarily, not eligible for rehire.

He did not give 2 weeks notice and just left after an argument with a manager at his previous airline. He is not sure if his new company has received the PRIA requests yet as his copies were emailed to him.

During interview when asked if he would go back to his previous company he just said no because he was looking for a change but never disclosed the argument or how he left the company.

His flying and training record is great though with no failures. Would his new company which is a regional really care that much considering his record as a pilot?

Tough. In the past he would be let go for sure, since all airline applications ask "have you ever been terminated".

I suppose it's possible a bottom-feeder regional might be desperate enough to let that slide but I would plan on unemployment soon. Probably need to consider 91/135 next... airlines are gonna be tough with two terminations, one for lying.

Keep track of what you sign.

The airlines are required to do a PRIA check.

It is recommended in the PRIA Advisory Circular that they do a FOIA check. They need your signature for this as well, but this is not a required check. Most airlines do this and with it comes all of your 8710s, disapprovals, temporary certificates and that stuff.

I would highly encourage you to learn about PRIA, it's part of your pilot career and it's important to know what it is and what is being requested.

I’m not sure why you’re telling me this? I’ve filled out many PRIA forms over the years, and am now at my final career airline. All I said was I’ve never received anything substantial from my PRIA copies.

Well you didn't seem to know the difference between the PRIA and FOIA checks. If you did, my mistake.

You’re definitely thinking of someone else. I never said a thing about FOIA. No worries though.

We have a good article on PRIA. FAPA.aero | Understanding PRIA

Let us know if you have any further questions about it.

It appears you did here:

I keep hearing people infer that you get all of this paperwork with your checkride history, but is that even true?
That is FOIA, and most airlines do it these days.

Please see Appendix 9, page 1, paragraph 5 and 6.

https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/...%20120-68F.pdf

Also, page 4:

a. Record Request. The FAA expects all hiring air carriers and air operators to request all FAA records of proficiency/competency and airmen certification practical test results. This will require a release from the applicant (see Appendix 9).
Here's the form for it:
