Default American Flyers $75

I just renewed using my for lifetime account @ American Flyers for the 4th time. It looks like they have an "Anniversary Special" that makes it $75 forever, and you can even brush up between renewals using their online course. How can you beat that?

Not to mention the time requirement on American Flyers is gone. Just read the material and take the quiz and you're done. Pretty painless.

American Flyers since 1995....still going strong! Don't let that CFI expire when it's this easy and cheap to renew.

American Flyers. Everything has already been said, it's easy, pretty good material if you want to actually learn something, and they also lowered the price of the paperwork handling service (ACR Service) and did away with the requirement to have it notarized as well. When you mail it in make sure to send it certified mail so you have proof of the date.

Another American Flyers guy here. Hard to beat the renewal for life incentive.

As others have mentioned, AF will get it done cheaply and relatively easily. On the other hand, if you actually want to learn something and hear some neat stories from guys who've "been there, done that", I'd recommend the Hoffman FIRC. Not sure where you are, but it seems like they mainly tour major metro areas in the western states. I took their FIRC this past summer and thought it was well worth the time and money.

I use duties and responsibilities but would probably use AOPA for renewal. I use Gleim for my IA renewal and like them for that.

Personally I would not go that route. Brush up with a CFI that has experience (knowledge) and take a reinstatement ride with a DPE. Or get an add on instructor rating if you don't have all of them and this will reinstate your expired CFI.

Does there come a point in one's career when it is not worth renewing the CFI?
