Best CFI Renewal Course
#31
I can highly recommend the King FIRC to get it done and over with. I have used Gleim in the past but because I waited to the last minute I had to find one that was quick. The king one was QUICK and enjoyable and no boring videos.

How do they compare in course content and quality? User-friendly?
Cheers!

I used American Flyers two years ago on the recommendation of a colleague and found it very straightforward and easy to use, yet comprehensive enough to brush away a few cobwebs. I paid once for life so will obviously use them again this year. I particularly liked the ability to accomplish the training at my own pace on line and to download and print instructional and review materials. Highly recommend them if you like to study and learn at your own pace.

I just competed the AceCFI FIRC and would highly recommend it for someone who values timeliness. If you're looking for a course that gives you the tools to go back to flight instructing full time...then this course is probably not for you. However, if you want a course that keeps you up to date with changes to the CFI world, and checks the box for your renewal, then it is for you.
I competed the course in 1.5 hours yesterday, used their ACR service, and had my temporary certificate emailed to me the same day. Very easy and fast!!!!!!
They charge a one-time course fee of $99, which allows you to renew for life...much like American Flyers. The ACR service fee is $25, and must be paid with each renewal.
The ACR process is completely electronic. You fill out your 8710 on IACRA. Then upload copies of your old CFI and photo ID to their website. They send you an email to go back to IACRA and sign the 8710, and a couple hours later they email your temporary certificate. Dun!

AOPA/ASI eFIRC hands down, is the most interesting one I've tried. I can honestly say I enjoyed sitting down to look through the material, wasn't too long, and the renewal process was non-existent compared to others I've gone through. I actually walked away feeling I learned something new to that I could contribute when instructing. My 5th time renewing and I will definitely use it again.
