Online schools for degree???

If your goal is Delta then be careful because rumor has it that the only guys getting hired right now are the ones that actually attended college. In fact they don't really seem to like UVU's program too. Now this is today and in three years, I don't think they will matter.
OP: find state school in your state to save on tuition/costs

Ive been flying professionaly since I'm 18 and turning 41 in a few weeks. Was pretty much impossible to goto an actual school ESP since the last 7 years have been full time overseas.
It ****es me off like crazy that we even need a degree. But that's the price of admission I guess.
I started erau in 2007, took a few years off as I was literally everywhere while on a BBJ and was really getting frustrated in some countries where the Internet simply doesn't work!
I had 88 credits when I took that leave well when i renter the program turns out it changed so I lost 13 credits!!!
What a bunch of crap! Not only is it expensive but now I had to take more classes. I'm up to 88 again and hope to have it done by end of the year.
As for the comment about delta not liking an online degree or other things I heard such as them not liking you to take so many years to finish it well then I guess I won't get hired.
I really wish HR could come to understand this thing called reality.

You can, but it's not particularly likely and certain doors will be closed. Probably safer to get the degree early on and not have to worry about it.
The degree was not nearly as important 30 years ago, and if we see a big backlash against the cost/value tradeoff of higher education in our society then it's possible the degree won't be that important in aviation ten years from now, especially if hiring continues unabated. But for now it's problematic to not have it.

In aviation most employers will accept anything accredited to check the box, although a very few do have a rep for preferring "name brand" schools.

I haven't started an online degree program yet but I like how Western Governor's University is structured for IT related degrees (which may be a better idea than an aviation degree if you're able). If you're already in IT, your IT certs count towards credits and their coursework will get you some of the common industry certs. For the degrees they have, I'm not really sure you'd get much benefit of physically attending a school. When I went through the CCNA coursework at a local college, almost all of it could have been done remotely. Not sure if an aviation degree would be cheaper for me though, since I already have helicopter ratings up to CFI & also working in IT currently.

Employers these days (aviation and non-aviation) are not so wary of online degrees (they were five years ago) but they are still leery of diploma mill degrees. As a guy who used to hire people, national university, university of phoenix, and the like simply did not carry as much weight as a degree from an established traditional school. In aviation most employers will accept anything accredited to check the box, although a very few do have a rep for preferring "name brand" schools.
