Which major is the best between these two?
United
Pros:
IAH base (close to home)
Airbus is growing (i want A319/A320)
Higher pay
Legacy carrier that's desirable in my opinion
Cons:
Very hard selection process
United CPP is with regionals that aren't doing well
I could go with a regional and get stuck before United picks me up
American
Pros:
DFW Base (I have family there)
Tons of NEW Airbus (A319/320/321/330)
Newer aircraft
Easier to get into (flows from AAG Regionals)
Cons:
Lower pay
What are your pros/cons? Who would you choose?
United

If it were up to me I would go with which ever would give you better quality of life. If things go like they currently are then the flow through won't really matter. All the majors have a lot of hiring to do throughout the next decade so a flow through doesn't really mean a lot to me. As far as pay? Yes United is better right now but no one knows what the crystal ball has to offer. I suppose the best advise is apply to them all and go to the one that hires you first. If others call you after that I would determine if it's worth the pay cut to leave and go with the best quality of life. Which one will be the best airline in 20 years? If you find out let me know.

Do you even lift bro?
From your comments about the regionals, it sounds like you aren't even at the regionals yet? If so, you can make that decision once that time comes. Contracts will change and what exists today won't necessarily exist in the future.

The quick answer is......Whoever calls first as long as those two companies are still an attractive place to be when you get to that point.
If Im right and you haven't even started at the regionals, military, cargo, or charter, you have a lot of time and a couple of economic cycles to see how things shake out.
Things can and will be different by then.
It certainly doesn't hurt to ask questions. APC has a lot of info on the forums to read through, so grab a beer and do some research.
My advice is don't go chasing money or seniority because you will only sacrifice seniority and income while doing so. I was on the j/s for Southwest around 2007-08 and met a new fo with southwest who bailed on Delta because they were in/just exiting bankruptcy to go work for Southwest. Southwest is a great co, but looking back, seems like a bad move. That same guy lost good pay AND seniority with Delta.
Please, for all of humanity, don't work for Gojet or Mesa and you will be fine
Good luck.
