It's not the fact that they're shiny new jets...for that matter quite a few of them have been around a few years. It's the fact they're the bigger RJs that actually have a future if oil goes back up, compare to barely economical and out of favor 50 seater.

Commutair looks great right now because of the strong growth. But how sustainable is that growth over the long run? If you take into account the possibility of the economy going belly up and you staying stuck at the regionals for a while, I would not pick a Regional that is heavily dependent on 50 seaters.

Republic also just got rid of their 50 seaters, so that's a big fleet shrink that's going to elevate upgrade times. But that's in the past now and upgrades will continue to drop.

And FYI- I interviewed with republic and not at one point did they use the new shiny jet as part of their pitch.

I would not work for a company that only has 50 seat planes either unless that company is almost half owned by the major it works for. UA owns almost half of CommutAir. I would bet that UA would put something else on the property at CommutAir when the time comes to get rid of the 50 seaters.

Oops, sorry, you're right. Add Mesa to that list. As for RAH, all I know is what I heard from the 3 ex-RAH guys I know here at SKW. After listening to them I wouldn't recommend RAH to anyone...

And they worked for RAH post contract? Big difference.

Every regional has older and bitter guys who went through the more difficult times. Heck, it seems even the majors have some of those.

I've heard people say the same about Endeavor, based on negative commentary from older guys. Would you say that of Endeavor today? I certainly would not.

Doubt it based on history and personality.

I know many more who are happy.
Out of 2000 some pilots I would hope so...
Upgrade will come down from 4 years where it is now.
Source ?
Like I said, the past 5-10 years are absolutely not an indication of the next decade. Totally irrelevant.
Negative ghostrider, same management that drove the bus into bankruptcy is still holding the steering wheel. While its true the future hasn't been written, what leads you believe what you say is going to happen is going to happen ?

We don't have an IAD base so it will close after it opens.
DCA IAD whatever, put two and two together...

If you don't think having a largely 50 seater fleet matters, try talking to an AWAC guy.
This is an Irrelevant Conclusion or Ignoratio Elenchi Fallacy. Skywest has 157 50 seaters and is a highly regarded airline. How is Skywest able to operate 50 seaters profitably without bankrupting their contracts ?

SkyWest doesn't care about which airplane they fly. They get reimbursed for it.

It's Delta, United and American who control which planes the regionals fly and 50 seaters are quickly falling out of favor.

Just witness what SkyWest is doing to ExpressJet, their own Wholly Owned.

Nope, pre-contract. So, fair point. Did things get a lot better with your new contract?

Nice address the question by not addressing the question. how perfectly infantile.
The truth is Skywest (a regional airline...) can operate a 50 seater profitably and Republic couldn't.

Bottom line nobody had an opinion to give the original poster to try and help the original poster. If you want to address the original poster and attempt to help them decide what may or may not be the best place for him go for it.

Funny how no one had an opinion till I gave mine.

Good day.
