Number 3 isn't bad and the original point that I was conveying and seems to be getting lost is that there is a lot of knowledge and experience at this little ACMI. It's customers "seem" to be heading in a direction in which this company has experience. Is that better?

That is true. Airborne Express was a well run, lean operation.... Until DHL forked everything up.

Amazon, however, seems to be distancing themselves from ABX. So, I'm not sure how much weight you can put on having previous experience running an express operation. Amazon wants to run things their way, not the way Airborne Express used to run things.

IIRC, ABX and DHL had similar issues, with ABX "telling" DHL how things should run and DHL reminding ABX that they were now in control and wanting things done the DHL way, for better or (often) worse.

That almost sounds straight out of a April 1987 "Playboy" article on the then Airborne Express. The author rode along with delivery drivers on their route, rode DC9 jumpseat from LAX to ILN, hub sort break, then ILN to JFK. He also interviewed ABF executives in Seattle. Good article, plus the pictures elsewhere in the issue aren't too painful on the eyes. Anyone interested in gleaning some things about early ABX culture should avail themselves of the April 1987 back issue.

That is the doing of ATSG mgt. ABX did give them the fuel to do that but I personally believe it is a negotiating tactic. Time will tell on that one.

Yeah, probably had nothing to do with 1224 going on strike against Amazon right before Black Friday..... I'm sure Amazon didn't even notice.

That's why it's so great that pilot groups stand in solidarity with eachother.
