That doesn't mean what you think it means.

Computers act logically. Which is better than humans.

It's classified.

And also, not necessary.

If you lose communication with the tower, do you automatically die?

(you supposed to say "no" here)

You use common sense (I.E. logic) to mitigate the situation.

Classified because there isint one? or....

for automated aircraft one would think that is quite a big issue...to compare it to comms loss with tower? really try another one mate

This part is the most important thing pilots need to understand. Pilotless airplanes are coming eventually. And as soon as they show they can fly with fewer accidents than we do, the public will fall in line behind the concept for all air travel. The best thing we got going for us is the slow moving FAA bureaucratic BS that will keep it from happening overnight. Us older guys have nothing to worry about. Younger guys should keep an eye on this subject though.

We skeptics may underestimate the cleverness of computer nerds, but nerds underestimate the tightfistedness of beancounters. Human pilots are just too cheap to be replaced, and even cheaper ones are standing by for their chance. The career is safe, for those who want it badly enough.

Computers follow a code, I don't think anybody can code a human brain....
