And yes, I call ours binary throttles ... it's the only digital system we have!
Hawg...I fly the useful kind (for a couple more weeks anyway) that shares 2202 with you all the time.

Slice...I have not been called and have only been in the pool for 2 weeks. An Eagle bud of mine just got the call today for the class next week. When did you interview and how long did you sit in the pool? What airframe did you ask for/get?

Interviewed first week of Feb. No pool, offered a job 3 days later. Offered a class a week after that for SDFZ 757. Told them my dream a/c was 747 in the interview.

So you turned down the 757z and are going to wait for the 747? <BG>

FWIW,

I started Feb 26th, and I really like it. UPS is my 7th airline, so it does take a lot for me to like it anywhere. Six in our class were awarded MD 11 ANC and the other 11, the 757 out of SDF and ONT.

My quals:
757/767 type rated
5600 total hrs in type
750 Capt in type
3790 F/O in type
1060 IRO in type
Worldwide experience in type.

However, with my background in other aircraft, I was awarded the MD11. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. My point is, in my class we are going where it best serves the company. It's all good (I think that's a Louisville term).

That's par for the course. In the past, when virtually everyone was hired as a SO, it wasn't uncommon to come on the property current and qualified (for example) as a 727 engineer and get assigned to the DC8 panel. Meanwhile the guy sitting next to you got assigned to the 727 panel with no prior 727 experience. Go figure.

Look at the bright side...if you really want to fly the 75, you can probably bid back in a year or less.

Hey Tipsy,

I'd love to get back on the 747, so maybe I'll be seeing more of ANC....but anything works for me...

I doubt you'll have much trouble getting an ANC 744 slot. It's just a matter of when they'll allow you to bid out of your new hire seat assignment.

My guess is about 1 year from DOH.

YMMV.

Enjoy!
