1. collective bargaining leverage
2. more aggressive negotiating representation (i.e. Kalitta contract- I doubt that ATI will be able to match their compensation even if we are 3 years down the road and being released to self help)... think about it: ALPA and our NC haven't even able to persuade ATI to offer comp that is roughly on par with ABX after 1+ years of "accelerated negotiations". seems totally absurd to me, but maybe I'm way off.
3. Having ABX and ATI under separate management with separate unions while operating for the same parent company only makes it easier for ATSG to crack the whipsaw. ATI management was convinced that after the November ABX strike ATI would pick up all or most of the Amazon flying... didn't really happen. ABX recovers ATI freight all the time, lately ATI has run reserve lines out of ONT in case Atlas can't launch too. It's hard to understand how you don't see all of this as beneficial only to ATSG. If everyone is Teamsters, the pilots are one step closer to alleviating this.
Loss of single carrier petition was a win for ATSG, not pilots. Word got out last year that JV proposed the ATI uniform be changed to golf shirts. Seemed really weird at the time, but then the judge's decision on single carrier comes out and what is one of the main arguments? the fact that we have different colored epaulets and therefore different uniforms. Wake up guys, ATSG was trying hard to facilitate this... why? because it benefits ATSG management.

Its hard to improve on that post.
I would offer all the crooked dealing that has gone on under the nose of ALPA with Capital and ATI. The topic itself is worth its own thread. I know for a fact crew members brought this to nationals attention. Nothing happened.
Baldwin's strongest statement is pure negotiating power with full control of the ramp under one union.

You could do two unions....
You would have to get contracts that are on perfect parity and liaisons on both sides. You would also have agree to honor one another's actions 100%. Otherwise get whipsawed. So you end up defeating the purpose.
You cant approach the argument from a defeatist standpoint. I want a contract better than ABX so I dont want them under cutting me. Before anyone goes ripping me think about my statement. Its a two way street unless we are unified and in one--> direction

You won't make progress until a mindset it changed

(to my fellow crewmemember whom Im about to quote. Im not using your name or being negative just making a point)
[crew]We can't start picketing like the other guys. We have to keep Amazon happy and keep up or performance or they'll go elsewhere.
[newb] where do you think they will go?
[crew] well they may buy someone else or use some startup.
[newb] All thats going to do is insure a status quo with no change. Aren't you worried about us not getting our share of the greatest profits in company history?
[crew] well they have to pay us
[newb] how do you see that?
[crew] well they will
[newb] I think they will just continue the way it is as long as they can, its in their interest to prolong as long as possible to maximize their earnings. Did you know we are the lowest paid on the ramp?
[crew] We make more per hour than ATLAS, I looked it up.
[newb] To atlas capt "hey what kind of take home do your capts make?"
[Crew] ugh well thats not what it says on the internet. The pay will go up when amazon buys us. We just have to keep up the service.
[newb] speechless ---Ill get the paper work

That's the problem with the senior ATI guys...no balls! Thank god the newbies aren't the lemmings the captains have become. One note: Amazon is gonna try to get it on the cheap---right now you are JV's *****es why not become Bez's. As for picketing with your fellow pilots: well we know how that goes-- ALPA sold you down the river, ask "SNAG"

Somebody there needs to learn the meaning of the phrase "can't win for losing".
There's nothing wrong with having reasonable expectations. I have yet to find anyone at ABX who doesn't understand that. And anyone who deliberately undervalues their own labor thinking that a corporate behemoth like Amazon is going to shower them with cash later is seriously deluded.
