ALPA's Influence

It seems to me that ALPA has very little influence in the current political environment. ALPA hasn't had a win on a national issue in a long time. How is caving on the Age 60 issue going to increase ALPA's influence with Congress, or the Administration? The rationale for changing positions on the age 60 issue doesn't hold water.

The significant difference here is that the reversal of our position on the Age 60 Law and the support of retroactivity without the support of the Union membership is what weakens ALPA's stance on this issue. FDX ALPA's position is NOT inline with what the pilots have voiced their opinions on what they think it should be. Huge difference. And the retroactivity issue is an unknown until we poll the membership......which wouldn't be tough to do in a timely manner.
